  • Mumford & Sons, Vicky McClure and Russell Tovey #518

What’s the weirdest situation you’ve listened to Radio X in?

Chris was off this week so Toby stepped into the breakfast shoes and had just about the silliest show you can imagine. We were also blessed with some awesome guests this week, gave away lots of tickets to upcoming gigs and became privy to Toby’s terrifyingly accurate clairvoyance skills.

The first guest we had this week was the incredibly talented Vicky McClure. She came into the studio to chat about the new season of Trigger Point. She spoke to Toby and the team about the unique experience of working with real-world bomb diffusers on set as they aim to make the show as close to reality as possible. What she didn’t expect coming into the studio this week however, was to be playing a game that involved delivering electric shocks to producer John.

Next, Russell Tovey popped into the studio to talk about his new book: Art School (in a book): A future artist's guide to contemporary Art. He spoke about the inaccessibility of the art world for an outsider and how intimidating it can be. He also said that art is for everyone and that his new book is a way of helping young people bridge this gap. Oh and he also chatted about silly things too like how insane it was voicing Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents.

Finally we had the legendary Mumford & Sons in the studio chatting to Toby about a host of topics, ranging from their latest single featuring Hozier, to being onstage with Springsteen. They also spoke about other artists they dream of collaborating with, such as Stevie Nicks and Adele.

That’s all for this week, but we have these to offer you before we go:

    • Planning a heist
    • The ceremony at Hayes Bowls Club
    • Couples on their wedding night

    Enjoy!

  • Guest Fest including Jeremy Allen White, Stephen Graham, Ross Noble and more #517

Do you know your Granny Smiths from your Cox?

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

Wow what a chaotic week! We went from Jeremy Allen White to Jade Jones to Captain eating apples, to a listener winning £10k! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Rory Bremner was our first guest this week, he came in to talk about his additional tour dates where he will be doing a mixture of standup and of course his incredible impressions. He of course gave us a taste of what one can expect from his live shows.

Next we were blessed by the presence of the chaotic trio that is Leigh & Jill Francis and Jade Jones (would have been Emma Bunton too if she wasn’t so busy!). They were in to chat about their upcoming podcast: ‘Unlikely Friends,’ where they chat about all kinds of random topics that listeners and celebs submit.

Jeremy Allen White and Stephen Graham were in to chat about their new film: Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Jeremy opens up about the support that Stephen gave him when feeling overwhelmed while on set. Stephen shared his admiration for Jeremy's talent and also spoke on some of his older roles.

Our final guest was the unbelievably hilarious Ross Noble. He was here to promote his upcoming 5-month long tour, but to be honest, he was here more for a chat and laugh than anything else! He chatted with Chris and Dom about their upcoming Palladium shows, and gave them some much needed advice!

Even if guests really aren't your thing, there are a bus load of other silly bits in here as usual:

    • Chris can’t blow his nose
    • Toby forgets Pippa’s birthday
    • Dom’s Babestation movie

    Enjoy!

  • Richard Hammond, Greg Davies, Prof. Brian Cox and Chris McCausland #516

If you could, you could… but you can’t…

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

It was a busy week this week with four guests on the show! Kicking things off we were joined by Richard Hammond who chatted to Chris and the team about the new season of Richard Hammond's Workshop. He also took a little trip down memory lane, reminiscing about Top Gear and even his old days in Radio!

Next Greg Davies joined the team in the studio, talking about returning to Never Mind the Buzzcocks with its new season that aired this week. There was also a surprising amount of chat about cows, and on that theme, Greg told Chris a story that he said was probably the funniest thing that has ever happened to him.

Professor Brian Cox was in the Studio next talking about all things space and promoting his new live tour that he is taking all over the world. He answered questions about multiple universes, travelling at the speed of light and even pondered on what time actually is.

The final guest this week was the hilarious Chris McCausland. He came in to promote his new book, a vulnerable yet hilarious autobiography delving into his experience losing his sight and becoming the winner of 2024’s Strictly Come Dancing.

But wait, we have more than just guests to offer you! Listen out for these silly bits as well:

    • Dom’s Leather library
    • Toby’s guess who
    • Cowboys and Cowgirls in the Radio X office

  • Serge from Kasabian, Grant from Feeder and Lewis Goodall #515

What an absolute creamer of a podcast!

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast!

The genius behind Kasabian, Sergio Lorenzo Pizzorno, joined Chris and the team in the studio this week. Serge told us about their upcoming album in the summer, and that he is buzzing to play to 50,000 people at the band’s huge upcoming Finsbury Park gig next year!

Grant from Feeder also joined us this week. He spoke about the band’s biggest song, Buck Rogers, telling Chris that he originally wrote the song for another band and that he doesn’t actually like the song all that much. Grant also shared info about the new 2025 remastered version of 2002 album Comfort in Sound.

Lewis Goodall is one of the News Agents trio, and has released a brand new podcast on Global Player: Coining It. The story of a man in Blackpool that found an unusual glitch in Bitcoin. We also show Lewis our parody of The News Agents… Booze Agents!

Also, our beloved executive producer (and he didn’t write this, I promise you!) James Robinson shared some rather devastating news…

Make sure you listen out of these hilarious bits:

    • Workplace bullying
    • Polly's harmonica talents
    • American chants aren’t good

    Enjoy!

  • Sir Stephen Fry, Richard Osman, and Radio X is Ten! #514

Is it illegal to take a photo of an empty chair in Malta?

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

As it's the 10 year anniversary of Radio X, we had one final £10,000 to give away. Plus, we announced Radio X is Ten Live! Circa Waves, Hard-Fi, and Jake Bugg are all going to be there in Manchester this November, as well as headliners Blossoms who joined the team to chat about their journey with Radio X.

We spoke to Sir Stephen Fry about his play ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ which is now showing in London’s West End. Etiquette expert William Hanson waltzed in for a huge podcast announcement and more importantly, try something he’s never got his mouth around before.

Jason Byrne was on the show this week to talk about his love of Bono, and his UK tour of new show ‘Head In The Clouds’. And the guy who once sat behind a laptop, Richard Osman, popped by to discuss his books being made into films by Steven Spielberg, spelling Piers Brosnan's name incorrectly, and his new book ‘The Impossible Fortune’ that made Chris cry.

That’s all for this week but keep an ear out for these crackers:

    • A certain jam eater’s birthday
    • Dom's nudey cruise
    • One of our most excited winners of tickets ever!

  • The Chris Moyles Show Massive Decade Tour Edition #513

    What a tour!

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

To celebrate ten years of Radio X, Chris and the team carried out their Massive Decade Tour. They hosted the show live from five locations around the country, with locations of special significance to them all.

They started the week live in a barn on the legendary Blur bassist, Alex James’s farm. Well when I say barn, let’s be honest it's more like a cathedral! Alex gave them a tour of the place and chatted about the incredible musicians he’s hosted on his farm and spoke on his life now as a full-time farmer.

The team then dashed to Wrexham where they presented live from the Turf pub, literally touching distance from the Wrexham A.F.C. football stadium. After chatting with landlord Wayne and some locals who popped by, they made their next stop in Chris’s hometown: Leeds, where more shenanigans went down.

Next it was to Brown- I mean Whitehaven, where Chris unveiled a very special surprise for the locals, before making their final stop in Glasgow on Friday, where they did the show live from their hotel in front of an audience.

Throughout all of this chaos, each day a lucky listener won £10,000 as a thank you for supporting Radio X over all these years. We also had special guests along the way, such as Humphrey Ker, Susie McCabe and the one and only McWobinson.

Normality will resume next week as Chris et al. will be back in the studio (after some seriously well earned rest!)

Keep an ear out for these best bits:

    • Captain’s lover
    • Fermenting your plums
    • Richard Ashcroft lookalike (...kind of)

    Enjoy!

  • Jamie Oliver, Massive Decade Tour and a new Chris Moyles Show member! #512

    Are bees farm animals?

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

Well, we can’t ignore the Polly in the room any longer. You have all noticed her, and had a go at guessing her name and who she is, but officially she introduces herself this week. Polly! Our new, incredible, producer for The Chris Moyles Show. Expect more from her as the weeks go on and she becomes more accustomed to the show’s… erm… uniqueness!

Chef and friend of the show, Jamie Oliver came into the studio this week to talk about his new book and TV show: Eat Yourself Healthy. He discusses how unhealthy the UK has become over the recent decades and the ways we can get back on track. Jamie also spoke about his recent flying lessons, and how effective they have been at helping his busy brain take a step back and slow down.

With the 10 year anniversary of Radio X just weeks away, Chris and the team announced their Massive Decade Tour, similar to the Prize Dump tour but with a twist. Starting at Alex James’s farm in the country, the team will head around the UK giving listeners the chance to win up to £10,000 each day.

That’s all for this week but keep an ear out for these crackers:

    • Someone’s done it in the toilet
    • Nun farts chocolate
    • Billy the cage fighter

    Enjoy!

  • Chris is back, Eric Idle and Dom’s Comedy Set #511

I have to praise you like a shoe!

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

Things returned to normal this week as Chris was home from Ibiza and back in the driving seat on Monday morning. It was a cracker of a week with a few games here and there, an iconic guest and of course, lots of silly moments.

The legendary Eric Idle joined the team for a chat this week covering a range of topics from John Cleese to The Rutles. He also promoted his upcoming UK tour that features a virtual band, singalongs, humorous stories from his career and some rare footage from over the years.

Dom was fresh from the stage, as we got highlights from his recent stand-up show! For his second ever set, he was asked to do 5 minutes for the Rode Comedy Festival, and it was at 18 minutes he realised he needed to wrap it up!

In a hilarious feature this week, listeners messaged in for our Stupid Amnesty with things they learned embarrassingly late in life… such as one listener who discovered that gherkins are, and have always been, cucumbers!

Well, you read all of that did you? I guess you want some more, so here it is…

    • Spinal Tap Review
    • Misheard songs
    • North South divide

    Enjoy!

  • Toby Tarrant sits in with Daniel Mays, The Whitehalls, and Chris from Hayes Bowls Club #510

    Get your Supoon out.

Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.

Daniel Mays joined us in the studio to talk about The Thursday Murder Club film. With a bumper cast featuring Dames and Sirs, he talked about his experience on set, and also told us what happened when he met Liam Gallagher in the woods.

Michael and Hilary Whitehall (aka The Wittering Whitehalls) woke up early on Friday morning to chat to us via Zoom. Hilary told us about the last time she met Toby, Michael complained about the studio’s dress code, and we heard all about their upcoming live tour.

On the eve of Dom’s set at the Rode Comedy festival, organiser Jarred Christmas gave Dom a few final words of encouragement.

Plus, Toby and Dom got a bit jealous that Dame Ellen MacArthur had a new dinosaur species named after her, so they set about to find someone that could name something after them. As it turns out, the best they could find was some new Combi Boilers at a Bowls Club in London.

If you’re well behaved, we’ll sprinkle in these extras for ya…

    • Dom gets his glock out
    • Amanda Holden’s Tequila and Taco night
    • Round 2 of Producer John’s game

    Enjoy!
