Then the Big Guy focused on the cost of energy and how it's impacting your business. He spoke to James Butcher - Head of Policy at the National Federation of Builders and owner of Hodgkinson builders, Ian Hodgkinson.

Then Clive looked at whether construction workers are downing tools on their own businesses and taking them to a larger house builder for a more steady income in these hard times where energy, materials and fuel prices have gone through the roof. He spoke to Andy Prendergast - National Secretary for the GMB union, carpenter David Byrne and The Yorkshire Stone Dresser, James Robinson.

Clive then focused on 'Modular Homes' and if they could be the government's answer to help out with the 300,000 a year target of building homes. Then Clive discussed the topic of Fraud In the industry. There was a massive increase in this over the pandemic. He spoke to Robert Brooker, Head of Fraud and Forensics at PKFGM and also chair of the London Fraud Forum and John Argyle from Enfield Refurbishments who was caught out by fraud himself.

How can manufacturers make improvements in design and how can van owners better protect themselves? Then he moved on to refurbishment of tools. In a move to support the circular economy and reduce waste, Screwfix has enhanced its offering in refurbished power tools. This was something that was started in January this year initially and the trial has been carried forward. We spoke to Mike Hughes, Operations Manager at ToolExchange and tradespeople Denis Richardson and Sean Matthews.
