I'm turning 50 this week. It's a big one, and in honor of it I'm sharing the birthday ritual I've been doing for 25 years: a two-part practice that helps me ground, anchor, and genuinely celebrate the transition from one year to the next.
There's a lot in this episode. Content, wisdom, personal reflection, and some coaching tips woven throughout. I also share what I really think about perimenopause and menopause, and some of the most meaningful ways I've evolved in the last two to three years.
If you're looking for ways to make your own birthdays or your clients' transitions more meaningful, this one is for you.

This is one of our most listened-to episodes, and I'm bringing it back because the content is as relevant today as the day it first aired.
Knowing how to help clients work through fear, not around it, is one of the most important skills a coach, therapist, or transformational practitioner can develop. Fear can stand directly in the way of your clients taking action toward the goals they hired you for. And when it shows up and gets navigated unskillfully, it can bring your work together to a complete standstill.
Most practitioners try to help clients talk through their fear, or release it altogether. Neither approach actually works. What works is a process to Befriend the Fear, one that moves beyond purely cognitive learning and processing.
In this episode, we go deep into the human behavior behind fear and the most important principles coaches and practitioners need to know in order to help clients coexist with fear in regulated, empowered ways.

Every year or so, I take time to put together a State of the Coaching and Transformation Industry report, because the industry is changing rapidly and knowing what's happening can be vital to making the shifts you need to thrive.
My honest conclusion each year: coaches and practitioners need better, more exceptional skills to meet the growing needs of the population and to stay competitive. That's true for 2025 going into 2026, and this episode breaks down exactly what the data shows and what to do about it.

After nearly 25 years of being visible and vulnerable in public, I'm generally not shy about sharing. And yet, I felt a little nervous putting this episode together.
It's about my grief journey over the months since my mother died. It's about how I've continued showing up for my days and my coaching sessions, even when big, hard things were happening in the background. And it's about the sometimes complicated relationship between mothers and daughters, and how I navigate questions of individuation with my own daughters.
It's personal, a little less organized than I usually am, and every bit of it is placed in the context of coaching: what it means to hold space for our clients, to sit in the shadows with them, to bring our whole human selves into this work.
This one is straight from my heart to yours.
Referrals are one of the easiest, most aligned ways to grow a coaching business. They're warmer than cold outreach, more cost-effective than ads, and in a moment when people want real transformation over polished sales pages, they're more important than ever.
And yet most coaches are unintentionally blocking referrals without realizing it.
In this episode, I name five of the most common mistakes that stop referral flow in its tracks, plus two bonus ones I couldn't leave out. Each one comes with a supportive reframe and a practical mini-strategy so you walk away feeling clear and ready to act.

The brand new Applied Depth Institute website is live, and in this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of what it actually took to get here. Spoiler: it was not all rainbows and unicorns.
In true behind-the-curtain fashion, I share the tech glitches, design misfires, unexpected delays, and very human emotions that come with navigating a big project like this. And because I can't help myself, I'm also sharing the hard-won lessons that will save you time, money, and heartache when you tackle a website update of your own.

How do you keep marketing, coaching, creating, and leading when the world feels like it's falling apart?
I've been asked this more than once lately. And in this short but honest episode, I share my personal answer, the one that keeps me getting up and doing this work even when the grief is big and the headlines are hard.
The answer, for me, comes down to this: transformational coaching is activism. The culture change we are all yearning for can begin right inside our client sessions, and I believe that more deeply now than I ever have.

You've heard the advice: once your business scales, drop the 1:1s. Focus on leverage. Build your groups. But what if that's not the whole story?
In this episode, I share why I've kept private client work at the heart of my business, even as everything else has grown, and why it continues to fuel my revenue, my joy, my skills, and my thought leadership in ways that nothing else quite replicates.
If you've ever questioned whether 1:1 work is still worth it, or felt torn between group scalability and the intimacy of private sessions, this conversation is for you. 1:1 work isn't something to graduate from. For many of us, it's the very thing that elevates everything else we do.

To celebrate 50 episodes, I'm getting very personal.
Rejection sensitivity shows up in my life in ways that are quirky, subtle, and sometimes genuinely cringeworthy. In my business, in my friendships, and even in my relationships with beloved clients. In this episode, I share the real stories, because this conversation matters, and because so many of us hold ourselves back from creating what we want or showing up fully because of our fear of rejection.
You are not alone in this. And you are not broken.

The Summer Solstice is more than an astronomical event. It's an invitation to step into your full radiance, to stop dimming your light, and to help your clients do the same. And one of the most powerful stories that illuminates this invitation is the ancient Shinto myth of Amaterasu, the sun goddess who hid her light out of fear and shame, and what it took for her to reclaim it.
In this episode, we go deep into the solstice as a sacred threshold, both for your own personal and spiritual practice and as a rich source of coaching wisdom and ritual for your clients. I also share a personal story from a workshop where someone criticized me hard, and what happened next.
