LEARN FROM FEEDBACK
We, meaning us creative writers, have so many chances to get feedback. If you look for them, you'll find them. But you also need to use them. Use the feedback. Use the chances you get. Spend time with any constructive feedback you get.
Haters can hate but constructive criticism is always welcome. In fact, it helps us writers grow and improve. In this episode I talk about when you should be learning from feedback or the chances to improve as a writer you may get.
THE CREATIVE WRITER PODCAST
The Creative Writer Podcast is a podcast for writers and authors. Especially those of you who write fiction but non-fiction authors are also more than welcome here. On this podcast, I talk about topics you've requested or lessons I've learned on my writing journey. I like to keep the episodes somewhat short, so all you busy writers and authors have the time to listen or watch the episodes. After all, you need all the possible time to get your writing done!

Let's talk about working with an editor and what you should expect from a professional editor. If you want a more in-depth video about working with an editor in general, just ask me to do so and I will. In this episode, however, I talk more about what went through with my editing process and what it was like working with an editor from my perspective.

Let's talk about ISBNs. This episode is especially for those of you self-publishing. But traditional authors (or those aspiring to be one) it doesn't hurt to know more about ISBNs.

I hope you enjoy this dark, romantic fantasy book filled with action and magic!
Effective storytelling has limits. Even if you're writing a full-length novel, you can't have too many characters. (Well, you can, but you shouldn't.) You want your readers to be able to stay on track with your story and that's where the limits come in. The limits are all about making the story the best it can be FOR YOUR READERS. Everything you do for a work that's meant to be published should be for your readers (except maybe the first draft).

Here is a bonus episode about proofreading for both traditionally published and self-published (not to forget aspiring) authors. Hope it helps you. Happy writing! senjalaakso.com
Note: This used to be the 50th episode, but the episodes before the rebranding have been deleted and therefore this no longer is the 50th.
The 50th episode of The Creative Writer Podcast is all about breaking the rules. Except grammar rules... Don't break those.
But wait... This podcast has taught you something about writing rules. I know, and not everything I've taught will have worked for all of you. This episode is about learning to write your own way. And to do that, you have to break the rules. Find your voice, find what works for you and become a better writer. And a better author.
Are you in?

Knowing your why will help you validate your story for yourself, and that will help even with marketing your book. So no matter whether you're traditionally or self-published, this episode will help you find your why.
It doesn't even have to be anything life-changing. Just find out what is your reason to write that specific story. Why should you be the one to tell it? Because you have something to say to the world? That's good enough for me.

Side characters can be good or evil. Or even a little bit of both. You need them to support your story and your main character. But they should have another reason to be there, too. They should be as realistic as your main character is with their own goals and motivations. Yet they can't steal the spotlight from your main character. So with writing side characters, it's all about finding that balance. With the help of this episode, you should be able to find it.
