In our latest Trade to Black podcast, presented by Flowhub, hosts Shadd Dales and Anthony Varrell bring on Jim Higdon, Co-Founder and Chief Communications Officer from Cornbread Hemp to talk about the news that went down this week, the hemp ban extension officially passing the House, pushing the deadline from November 12 to December 11.The vote itself passed 370-48, but the real drama played out behind the scenes, hemp opponents led by Andy Harris tried to use an unrelated procedural rule vote to protest the delay, and that rule vote barely survived, 210-208, only passing because two Democrats crossed party lines. Jim breaks down what this delay actually means on the ground for hemp businesses, and why the next roughly 100 days are about to get a lot more serious for the industry as Congress works toward some kind of permanent regulatory framework before December 11 hits. There’s a real menu of competing bills already on the table. Representative Andy Barr’s Lawful Hemp Protection Act would establish federal rules around manufacturing, testing, labeling, taxation, and age restrictions while keeping the industry legal. House Oversight Chairman James Comer has his own proposal focused on packaging, testing standards, and age limits. Representatives Beth Van Duyne and Greg Landsman have introduced legislation specifically targeting hemp THC beverages, regulating and taxing them more like alcohol. Jim shares his read on which of these frameworks actually has real momentum, what the hemp industry needs to be doing right now to prepare, and what a realistic outcome looks like once December 11 arrives.Like, subscribe, and leave your comments!#TradeToBlack #CornbreadHemp #HempIndustry #HempBan #Delta8 #HempRegulation #CannabisPolicy #CannabisNews #AndyBarr #FlowhubWant to see more Cannabis Reform?🎬 • Could Cannabis Reform Boost the GOP in Mid... 🎬 • Hemp Industry Gets a One-Month Lifeline | ... 🎬 • Leaked Report Ties DeSantis to Cannabis Fi... 🎬 • Why do Marijuana Arrests Still Make up 1 i...
