Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to the first annual Golden Churros Awards  Ceremony  presented by Drunk Distory! As you've guessed it, Adriane and Ryan ate too many churros and decided to take a trip down memory main street for a glimpse at the year that brought us more Bobs than we can shake an oversized white gloved fist at. This award ceremony will bring shocks and awes and wild spectacles of all kinds that can be crammed into an audio only medium. So pour em if you got em, and put on your finest theme park friendly ball gown and tails as we roll out the red carpet and give honors to the honorable, and slights at the slaps.   Let’s celebrate the outstanding year the theme park community has had, and all of our incredible category nominees. But before we hand out our awards, The Dark Ride would like to thank the awesome people who made this event happen, You! Today could not have been possible without our wonderful listeners! Please give a big round of applause for all the people reading this right now, who have given their time, effort, dedication, and so much more to champion the show and make this program a success. ..... Wasn't that weird... you just thought about clapping... nobody around you would even know what the hell you were doing. But I would. So proud of you.

This week on an all-new episode of Drunk Distory presents ‘The Dark Ride’, we continue our deep dive into hotels around the theme park world with Drunk Distory's Resort Round Up. Today, get ready to retreat to this 60s version of the ultra-modern aesthetic. It's not just Mrs. Incredibles sweet caboose that loves this iconic A-frame Resort hotel, its the rest of the incredible cast too. why??? your guess is as good as ours, for a company that has been around for 100 years you would think that they would have more in the gas tank then to cram the only mid century modern family at their disposal into every room in the once technologically significant tower. You guessed it kiddies, were talking Disneys Contemporary Resort. So get your necks craned as you peep a 90-foot-tall mural by Disney Legend Mary Blair that celebrates the Grand Canyon and the American Southwest for some reason, and Mr. Iger, if you try to get rid of my favorite five legged donkey you will not like the result. Will the quote unquote dazzling pools (really Disney, dazzling, sheesh) and cheap retheming keep this no-tell motel in less than incredible company. Or, will the MK close proximity and the fact that a damn monorail slides into the hotels DMs every 15 minutes be enough to take this big concrete tent with all the bells and whistles up to the summit. There’s only one way to find out!

It’s a beautiful bioluminescent world of science fiction, on an earth-like moon full of precious minerals called unobtainium (didn't really think that name all the way through i guess). James Cameron had a dream, of blue people who are tall, and now we have a small Pandora World! That’s right people get out your blue face paint and get ready to learn all about “Avatar: The Way of Vodka” TM, because were back for a redux of Na'vi River Journey! A slow moving boat ride so nice, that we’ve done it twice. Will the second time talking through Na'vi River Journey let it sail to the top of a floating mountain or will it be taken down by an evil military man in a giant blue suit, and I ain’t talking about captain crunch. There’s only one way to find out!

Today we head on down to the internet Imbibery, to drink our cares away and talk funny about all things theme parks. This week Adriane tells Ryan all about her Holidazed trip to the hap hap happiest place on earth this side of the nut house. This is a two - in - one parter so we get to hear all about the pre trip plans and then through the channeling of time warp hulky and his oversized arms and the power of audio delay, we get to hear all about the reality of how this trip really went down. The terrific twosome also talk holidays, gifts,  and some of the extra offerings of the season. What do you get when you mix Victorian aesthetics with American buffet offerings and a whole lotta Poo(h), that's right you get the little glass house that couldn't. The crystal meth castle on the corner of main street and broken dream lane. The often hoped for and seldom imitated character dining with a damper, The Crystal Palace. This sit down dining with a promise of poor experience has been letting people down since opening day 1971, and was probably last refurbished then as well. The tiresome twosome has a hundred acres worth of feelings on this one. Lets see if the buffet's fresh shellfish, seasonal ravioli and pizza pancakes are enough to get this glass covered smack shack out of the bottom and into Pooh's corner. Not that Pooh's corner is anywhere that a dining establishment should aspire to be associated with. This 1980s nostalgic near zero will remind us that the wonderful thing about Tiggers, is that Tiggers have a costume small enough to not bump your table at every meet and greet passing. So pour the Cristal and light the candles and the tablecloth ablaze as we roast this sucker more than the carved prime rib on this Drunk Distory Dinner Disaster.
