Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.
First,Dom welcomes back Riley Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer and strong fighter for Title IX who has joined the show on multiple occasions, to discuss the explosion in popularity of the Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament. Gaines explains her pride in seeing her fellow women’s athletes succeed, telling of some record-setting numbers set last year in the world of women’s volleyball. Then, Riley, after rising to fame after competing against Trans UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas, discusses the new threats levied toward women’s sports and Title IX. Also, Riley tells about her upcoming book Swimming Against the Current, which releases in late May.
Then, Dom continues the Dom Giordano Program by welcoming in Nicole Neily, President and Founder of Parents Defending Education, to discuss a curriculum being funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation called ‘A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction,’ which seeks to ‘dismantle racism in mathematics instruction.’ Neily explains the issues with this form of curriculum, telling of the negative impacts of DEI and Critical Race Theory-driven educational topics. Also, Neily discusses whether Ivy League schools still hold their prestige only a week after acceptance letters were sent to prospective students.
