The First Gen Hunter Podcast

Spring hunting is one of the best gifts to a hunting season. Whether it's turkeys or bears its a great opportunity to keep our skills sharp going into the next fall hunting season. But bears and turkeys aren't the only thing available to hunt. A trip down to Texas to hunt aoudad sheep is another great option to explore. Alex just completed this hunt and joined the show to talk about his experiences and what he learned. We also hear an update regarding new laws affecting tags in Utah.

“Hunting Brings People Together” has been the mantra of this network for a while now and that’s exactly what brought Caleb into our lives. Couple that with the fact that we all love Jesus Christ and you have something pretty awesome. Join Lance and Noel as we visit with Caleb Drake and have story time from the field from this past week. It’ll be a hoot and a half! After all, that is The Hunting Effect.

If you have more questions about what it looks like to be a follower of Christ then please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you’d like to check out Noel’s Easter services then head over to @christpointbaptistchurch on Facebook and see for yourself.

A new favorite tradition of mine is heading to the Sandhills of Nebraska in the Spring to look for antlers on our good friend Nate's ranch. This year was better than the last as we had 4 of us and no snow. We ended up scooping up 24 antlers and at least twice as many new stories.

Topics Covered:

-Nebraska Sandhills ecology

-Why a smart rancher wants smaller cows

-Muley and Whitetail hybrids

-Rattlesnakes

-Extinction of small farms and ranches

Josh Sparks is easily becoming a favorite of mine. The sheer amount of humility he displays speaks volumes but couple that with a killer instinct and a passion for hunting and you have an awesome combination. Join Lance and Noel as we sit down with Josh who is en route to a turkey hunt to talk about his past couple of weeks worth of experiences in the field.

Follow along with the Midwest Whitetail and Chasing Red digital series and keep up with Josh and the gang!

Jacob is one of the most hardcore guys I've talked to on this podcast. In 2023 he stared down death on the mountain and miraculously survived. In 2024 he went back west killed a bear, a cow elk, a bull elk and came home to kill a 160 class buck in Ohio. What an incredible season! Jacob also celebrated the one year of establishment for his nonprofit organization that teaches men how to hunt, how to get in physical shape to take on the mountain, and how to find God while they are there.
