  • News from the future (ENG) - taxing robots, floating solar power plant, no more mergers, fighting Alzheimer, nuclear yacht
In this episode, 5 news stories that make us think more than ever about a future full of possibilities:

(1). Taxing Robots. An in-depth look at Bill Gates' proposal to tax robots, in light of a new study that confirms the merits of the option, but only in the short term. I'll explain why.

(2). Floating solar power plant. A 13,000-panel, 6 million kw-hours-per-year solar power plant built entirely on water becomes operational in Singapore.

(3). No more mergers. A U.S. senator introduces a bill to prohibit companies over a certain size from acquiring smaller players or merging with each other. I'll tell you the pros and cons of the bill.

(4). Fighting Alzheimer's. A new project aims to share knowledge among researchers scattered around the world, but also to address the issue with CRISPR technology and pluripotent stem cells. Will this be the one?

(5). Nuclear Yacht. An eccentric entrepreneur designs a ship for research and conservation of marine environments, based on a molten salt nuclear reactor. Genius or madness?

  • News from the future (ENG) - neural bypass and macaques, low-boom supersonic jets, DCash, Akasaki LEDs, Deep Nostalgia
    In this episode:

(1). Neural bypass and macaques. Connecting a wireless monkey to a PC, but also using non-invasive sensors to stimulate brain and muscles to function even in paralyzed people... different strategies between science and sensationalistic tweets.

(2). Low-boom supersonic jets. An American startup is working on the prototype of the new Air Force One thinking supersonic and low-boom. Again, lots of hype, a real utility, but the timing is still biblical and how come a fledgling company is dealing with it?

(3). The birth of DCash. The new digital currency of a group of Caribbean islands debuts. Interesting, but it's worth understanding how it differs from cryptocurrencies because it's different from them, even if at the base there is always the blockchain.

(4). Akasaki LEDs. He leaves us a phenomenal character, a Nobel Prize winner who invented one of the most impactful objects for the future of humanity, the blue LEDs. And he tells us a story of resilience, which is a life lesson for every innovator.

(5). Deep Nostalgia. A software that animates in short videos, the old photos of loved ones, probably disappeared, makes us think about a future of zero digital trust, but in the meantime collects over 70 million users in a few weeks.

(1). Eye-tracking e privacy.

Risposte incredibili, botte e risposte senza filtri, andate a sentire cosa ci siamo detti.

  • Episode 100 - A conversation with the artificial intelligence
In this special episode number 100 I had a chat with an artificial intelligence (a Megatron b11 neural network to be precise). I tried to understand what her perception of herself is, what technologies she thinks are dangerous for humans, if robots will replace humans, if there are other life forms in the universe. And to make the conversation lighter, we also talked about music, wine and podcasts.
Incredible answers, unfiltered thrashing, go listen to what we said.
