A question that has been asked and pondered for centuries: "Why do people suffer?" If God is all good and loving... why? Surely Jesus asked the same question as he was pondering his own cross in the Garden of Gethsemane. And it's there that both the question and the answer is found.
Anthony shares the words of two saints who understood suffering only by seeing it through the eyes of the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

Resilience
How resilient are you? Everyone of us experience moments in our life where we are challenged, broken, hurt or just feel the darkness overwhelming us. How resilient are we to come through these moments? When we walk with Christ no amount of suffering has the power to exclude our joy.

Be Still and Know - Margaret Rizza
The gospels are filled with stories of Jesus appearing before someone at a time in their life where they least expected it. Today it's the very disciples of Jesus who, after his death, appears before the men he knew best. And they didn't recognize Him!
It's easy to judge them and wonder about the disciples' frame of mind. But Sr. Kara reminds us in the reflection today that Jesus continues revealing Himself to us-his companions- and asks the question..... do you see Him?

If you want to be great, you must be a servant. And even if the world rejects us, we must remember that our getting into heaven is not dependent upon what this world says, but what Jesus says, what He did and what He died for!

The Angelus reminds us of the moment when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary with great news! As we read in Chapter One of Luke’s Gospel, (Luke 1:26-38) God wished Mary, truly a model of humility, to be the mother of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ!
This wonderful prayer evolved from a recitation of three Hail Mary’s following an evening bell around the 12th century to its present form (with morning and midday recitations) in the 16th century. When prayed in a group setting a leader recites the verses and everyone recites both the responses and the Hail Mary’s in between each verse, as shown above.
Although the Angelus has been traditionally said three times daily, at 6 am, noon and 6 pm, you can pray it at anytime! It is still accompanied by the ringing of a bell.

Influencer for God
Blessed Carlo was an “influencer for God,” not by his worldliness, but by his ordinary otherworldly radicalness. He is best known for documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world and cataloguing them onto a website, which he created before his death from leukemia in 2006, at the age of 15. Let us seek his intercession and follow his advise.

Teresa of Ávila, also called Saint Teresa of Jesus, was a Spanish noblewoman who felt called to convent life in the Catholic Church. A Carmelite nun, prominent Spanish mystic, religious reformer, author, theologian of the contemplative life and of mental prayer, she earned the rare distinction of being declared a Doctor of the Church, September 27th, 1970 by Pope Paul VI. Active during the Catholic Reformation, she reformed the Carmelite Orders of both women and men. The movement she initiated was later joined by the younger Spanish Carmelite friar and mystic John of the Cross. It led eventually to the establishment of the Discalced Carmelites. A formal papal decree adopting the split from the old order was issued in 1580.

A common theme throughout Scipture--throughout the spiritual life-- is that of NEW LIFE! The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has given us the promise of abundance and "aliveness" in all that we do. As we hear in today's psalm (and the reference to Ezekiel) another image is that of Dry Bones being breathed on (the Holy Spirit) and then coming to life! Javier explains....

Born of God
It seems like daily we are confronted by, and challenged by the secular world that doesn't really care, one way or the other, if we succeed. It's not easy to turn off those voices of doubt. We must, however, remember that we are born of God. This alone gives us everything we need to overcome those doubts and fear and put our faith in God alone.
