The God Minute

Pope Francis tells us that the face of God is MERCY. The very essence of God is about kindness and mercy. And in the Catholic Church the traditional Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy is how that face of God is revealed in our world.

Today, on Random Wednesday, we begin reflecting on these Works of Mercy in the Church. Every Wednesday during the month of June one of our wonderful team members will reflect on a specific work that is about making the face of God present to each other.

Open the door!  Jesus is constantly aware of our need for Him.  There He stands knocking at the door to our hearts.  Patiently He awaits our response.  Could today be that day where we finally have whatever we need to allow the Lord into our innermost being?

In the United States we celebrate the lives and memories of all those who gave their lives on behalf of our freedom and way of life-- Memorial Day.

In the Holy Trinity we know there are three distinct persons in One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Let us look at the "oneness" of the Trinity and see why that matters to our spiritual journey.

CONCERT FRIDAY
Every Friday on the God Minute we change things up a bit and let music give direction to our prayer and reflection. Sometimes quiet and peaceful, oftentimes upbeat and praiseworthy. Who said, "When you sing, you pray twice"?

MARY UNDOER OF KNOTS

Holy Mary, Full of God's presence during the day of your life, you accepted with full humility the Father's will and the devil was never capable of tying you up with his confusion. 

 Once with your Son, you interceded for our difficulties, and full of kindness and patience, you gave us example of how to untie the knots in our life.

 By remaining forever our mother you put in order and make more clear the ties that link us to the Lord. 

 Holy Mother, Mother of God and our mother, to you who untie with a motherly heart the knots of our life, we prayed to you to receive in your hands, (state your intention here)(everything we hold in our hearts and we offer at this moment) and to free us of the knots and confusion with which our enemy attacks. 

 Through your grace, your intercession, and your example, deliver us from all evil, Our Lady and untie the knots that prevent us from being united with God so that we, free from sin and error, may find Him in all things, may have our hearts placed in Him and may serve Him always in our brothers and sisters.  Amen.

Consider for a moment how many times you or someone you know has struggled with doubt in their life and in their faith.  Too often we quickly want to repair the doubt.   God invites us to sit with our struggles to find new life through Him.

Consider, if you will, "Fatherly" love and the way it is extravagant when it is given to us by God the Father.  For those times when we are "prodigal" how incredible is it to have our Father.  Let us stay close to Him!
