Welcome to another very exciting Episode of "The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes!
Please welcome to the "GLT Clearing" one of my very favorite people: The adorable, the lovely - the energetic power house - the vivacious - the eccentric - the truly barking and bananas - the roller-coaster that IS: Actress Kim Hicks!
Kim Hicks is 7th Generation Actress, Bristolian - "One Woman Show" specialist - and a very, very natural raconteur...
"Once the Genie is out of the bottle - it's quite difficult to get the cork back in!"
Chortle!
What a great laugh was had by us both!
Kim and I also have the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in common, where we both trained as Actors.
A lovely, rich and energising conversation indeed!
You can also "Watch/Listen" to Kim's time in The GLT "Clearing" here:
https://vimeo.com/521929546
So - thanks for listening!
"The Good Listening To" Podcast is the series that features "The Clearing": Where all good Questions come to be asked and all good Stories come to be told!
Think "Desert Island Discs" but in a Clearing - and with Stories rather than Music!
There are some lovely juicy storytelling metaphors to also enjoy along the way:
The Clearing itself - A Tree (where we get to "shake your tree to see which storytelling apples fall out, in the form of a lovely storytelling exercise called "5-4-3-2-1") - some Alchemy - some Gold - and finally a Cake with a Cherry on Top!
Also think about William Shakespeare - and about Jaques in "As You Like It" in particular:
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages..."
And as my Guest in the Podcast: Now is your 'moment in the sunshine' to share your story!
Who are you? What's your story? And what 'life-lessons-learned-along-the-way' would you like to share with us? And just to get bit "existential on yo ass" too (!) what would you like your legacy to be? How would you most like to be remembered?
And all my guests have at least 2 things in common: They are all Creative individuals - and all with an interesting story to be told!
If you'd like to find out more, then please do check out my websites www.secondcurve.uk + www.instantwit.co.uk - and there's also a dedicated "Good Listening To" Facebook Group c/o the link above.
Plus if you'd be interested in the experience of being given "a damn good listening to" yourself, or you'd like to explore the idea of some Personal Impact Coaching from me CG - to help level-up your confidence, communication, and personal impact c/o my online Coaching proposition: The Second Curve "Zoom Room" - then, by all means, do get in touch via any of the usual social media channels (see above) or you can email me at [email protected]
(The Second Curve "Zoom Room": Coaching to help you 'level up' your IMPACT - or to get Clarity on how to get to "where next?")

Welcome to a special "Good Books" Episode of "The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes!
If you've written a "Good Book", then I wrap an Episode of the Show around "uncovering the story behind the story of your Book!"
"Who are you? what's your story? And what have you written?"
So yes! Please welcome to the GLT Clearing today - for a special "Brand Strand" Episode - Malcolm Stern: Life Journeyman, Author - natural Storyteller - and Founder of Alternatives.org.uk
Malcolm Stern is also Author of a seminal book on Grief, called "Slay Your Dragons With Compassion: Ten Ways to Thrive Even When It Feels Impossible". A book which was brought to the world after the tragic suicide of his daughter Melissa in 2014.
Alternatives is the UK’s longest running weekly Mind-Body-Spirit Events Company and is internationally known as UK's landmark speaking platform for spiritual teachers, alternative thinkers, conscious business leaders and visionary thought provokers for the past 30+ years...
A wonderful rich, story-suffused conversation indeed. Including the richly comic story (brief and in passing) of how Van Morrison walked in on Malcolm whilst he was making love to his Fiddle player (if you'll pardon that particular expression!)
We've all done it...
Enjoy!
If you'd prefer to "Watch/Listen" to Malcolm's Episode then you can watch it here:

"And still I rise..."
Which is also one of Michelle's very favourite quotes!
A lovely-jubbly conversation - and a lovely trip down Memory Lane - was had and enjoyed by us both!

Welcome to another exciting - and indeed very special Episode - of "The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes!
And I'm delighted to welcome to "The GLT Clearing" today - the warm, wonderful, wise and velvety-voiced Paul Dodgson!
He beautifully describes himself in the Clearing as being a "Story Engineer".
Paul is a Writer, Producer, Musician - and Author of a lovely lyrical masterpiece of a book: "On The Road Not Taken" - a Memoire of the Transformational Power of Music.
He also talks about his joy of Autobiography, Life Writing & Memoire, profoundly inspired as a Writer by Laurie Lee:
"Autobiography can be the laying to rest of ghosts as well as an ordering of the mind. But for me it is also a celebration of living - and an attempt to hoard its sensations".
And as Paul also explains in his joy of "Life Writing":
"I believe Life Writing is a wonderful thing. Not just for Lords and Ladies, Kings & Queens. It is something for everybody. Everybody's life is a wonderful thing and needs documenting..."
Nice!
A wonderful rich precious Diamond of a conversation indeed!
You can also "Watch/Listen" to Paul's time in The GLT "Clearing" here:

In a special "Legacy: Life Reflections" Episode of The Good Listening To Podcast, Stuart Cox - Actor, Shakespeare Director & Journeyman reflects on his "journey to now" in a conversation he would call - in summary: "Rubbing Shoulders"
Stuart returns to the GLT Clearing to talk, amongst other things, about "accepting" his chronic heart condition.
"Legacy: Life Reflections" is a special 'series strand' of the Good Listening To Podcast - inspired by Shakespeare's "All the World's a Stage..." where I go into a bit of extra depth on "Legacy" and "How you would most like to be remembered?" And "What are your life-lessons-learned-along-the-way" that you'd like to share with us?
In this Episode Stuart Cox talks profoundly about his current state of being "at peace with NOW" - here in his Clearing - as he describes how he has accepted and completely come to terms with a chronic and worsening heart condition, with the opportunity of the Podcast itself (in being given a "good listening to") as catharsis.
A lovely, rich in-depth conversation, anchored around his great love of Cuba. And at its heart - the comic and almost impossible staging of a Production of Pericles!
Leading Stuart through his story - as if "Life imitating Art" to one of his most important life-lessons:
"Accept what you cannot change..."
So thanks for listening to another Episode of a "GLT with me CG!"

With 40 years as a road musician, award-winning bandleader multi instrumentalist Deanna Bogart is adored by her fans for her adventurous, original and diverse music career. Ladies n' Genmin welcome to another very exciting episode of "The Good Listening To Podcast" with me Chris Grimes!
Welcome to a very special "Brand Strand" Episode of "The Good Listening To Podcast" - with me Chris Grimes - whereby I wrap an Episode of the Podcast (with its strong Storytelling construct) around a particular Company or Individual to amplify their Company (or Personal) Brand:
And to that end, please welcome to the "GLT Clearing" the warm, GENEROUS, incredibly insightful - and gentle man - that is Johann Ilgenfritz Creator & Curator of UK Health Radio - and Health Triangle Magazine.
A truly compelling "Survivor's Story" of acute self-awareness - PURPOSE - and generosity.
As a cancer survivor given only 1 year to live (circa 2012) Johann not only survived but his PURPOSE and true reason for being was born: To create and curate UK Health Radio, as a new & much more restorative form of Radio Therapy for us all!
Backed up by Johann's favourite Mark Twain quote:
"The 2 most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
Here then is his story of the "day he found out WHY."
And just to hook you even more (!) here is the "Bish-Bash-Bosh" (!) of just some of his highlights:
German
Brought up in SA
In National Service fought in Angolan war
Fashion photographer
Had heart attack playing tennis
Recovered
Diagnosed with cancer
Had radio therapy
Went into remission
Returned with a vengeance
Given 12 months to live
Had abandoned photography for health
Created UK Health Radio
A new kind of radio therapy!
“Alkaline Vegan” (which he also explains in the film!)
Runs 10 km every day and works every day from dawn til dusk
Married to Raphaela
They met at Art School
Raphaela also designs the online Health Triangle magazine every month
They have 2 children Curtis 12 and Jasco 22
Family moved from Germany pre Brexit and had to register to stay!
Enjoy!
"A GLT with me CG!": The Podcast series that features "The Clearing", where all good questions come to be asked and all good stories come to be told!
Think "Desert Island Discs" but in a Clearing!
Also think about William Shakespeare - and about Jaques in "As You Like It" in particular:
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages..."
Jaques: Act II Scene VII
And as my Guest in the Podcast: Now is your 'moment in the sunshine' to share your story!
Who are you? What's your story? And what 'life-lessons-learned-along-the-way' would you like to share with us? And just to get bit "existential on yo ass" too (!) what would you like your legacy to be? How would you most like to be remembered?
And all my guests have at least 2 things in common: They are all Creative individuals - and all with an interesting story to be told!
So thanks for listening to another Episode!
