Jim Stavis was the first person to ever survive a triple organ transplant. 

When he was 17, he was told he'd be lucky to live past his 50th birthday. At that time, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Doctors expected him to be plagued by kidney and heart disease, blindness and amputation before succumbing to diabetes at a young age.

In spite of all of that, he was with us on this interview in his 60+ years of life.

At 25, Wayne’s path changed forever when a split-second decision on the rugby field left him with a dislocated neck. Fading in and out of consciousness, Wayne was rushed to the hospital and woke up five days later paralyzed from the neck down (C4-5 tetraplegic).
