I’m Ruth and this is going to be a podcast series about a bunch of Kiwi’s and their money journey in New Zealand.

Through my blog I share the things I have tried because I want other average Jo’s like me to create financial independence for themselves and to realise that you don’t have to be an investment banker to do this. You just have to take an interest in your financial future.

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about what I do with my money and along the way have met an incredible bunch of Kiwi’s who are happy to share what they do with THEIR money and this podcast series is focussed on them. In this series I speak to 12 quite different people about their journey with money. Some know from the beginning how to use money and not have it use them, but others fell with both feet into the consumer lifestyle where more is better, that debt is good and debt will help you achieve everything meaningful in life. All of them are thinking hard about where they find themselves now and where they want to be in the future and they discuss with me what their plans are.

Many have had a financial awakening where they have made radical changes in their lives, such as selling a house they can’t afford or moving to a different country to get ahead financially. Others share with me how and where they invest their surplus cash each month somewhere other than a bank and are counting down the years until they retire early. Money makes money and each of the people I have interviewed are on the path to learning that the more they tuck away the more it grows and the less they have to work, giving them more time to enjoy this life.

So I hope you will enjoy this upcoming uniquely New Zealand perspective on saving and investing. I’ve been inspired by all the people I have spoken to and I’m absolutely positive that you will be too.
