As it turns out, shame wounds are so relatable - so normal. And underneath the discomfort often lies something so incredibly, if not fiercely, sweet.
And oftentimes, sharing them in safe spaces can disempower the wrongful messaging as well as bond us more deeply in our friendships or relationships.
This episode is a quick add-on to last week's episode. I thought it would be worth it to go just one layer deeper, so that maybe we can all bring some healing to our "shame" wounds.
This process may carry some grief or tap into old memories, so approaching with compassion and reverence would be very important.
My hope is that this episode can allow us to see the sweetness of the human spirit - in ourselves and in each other. And that the normalizing and seeing the sweetness of these wounds can allow us to bring healing and catalyze the freer expression of our lives.

Why do our passions, or the things we love the most, sometimes turn into a place of drudgery or dread? Actually, there might likely be something beautiful or valuable underneath it all that is being protected.
I decided that the most illustrative way to talk about this concept would be to tap into my vulnerability and share my own experiences.
This episode is the follow-up to last week’s episode: “Do Your Passions Ever Feel Heavy?"
In that episode, I invited you to query:
Feelings of resistance and heaviness are so common. In fact, you can get so accustomed to it, that you may forget to question whether or not things could change.
Today, we talk about the sweetness and the vulnerabilities that might be lying underneath these nebulously heavy feelings. It's likely that we wouldn't create resistances unless there was a reason.
Once you are able to understand these places, you can also then reconcile and/or heal and move through them.
This can not only be a beautiful process but can also then catalyze a much freer pursuit of your passions as well as a more enjoyable life.

Sometimes we can dread, delay, or never start the things that we love the most. Why is it that some of the things that you are passionate about can feel so heavy sometimes?
What are the things in your life that feel heavy? Perhaps you feel like you're walking through mud while you're doing it. Or perhaps it leaves you in a guilty stupor of delay.
Funnily, we can go for years, and even a lifetime, not realizing that we're continually battling these cycles of heaviness. It's possible that you've grown quite accustomed to carrying it around.
It can also be confounding because these are the spaces that you'd think would feel free and imaginative and fun.
What if this changed? If you felt freer and things were more enjoyable?
As it turns out, there are probably some really good reasons for this heaviness.
And it is definitely possible to change these associations.
Just a reminder that it's so important to come in kindly to these spaces.
Next week, we will follow up with how to get underneath these things and separate ourselves from this kind of weight.
It's possible that the way we experience life could change quite a bit with a mindful and compassionate tending of these places.

I am continually mesmerized by the beauty of the human spirit and how easily we can miss it amidst our busyness or our routines.
Today's query heralds from an irrevocable life lesson that I learned from a bunch of teenagers. What would happen if we asked more kindly curious questions of each other?
We could go lifetimes not knowing some of the truest parts of one another and could really miss out on the brilliancy and beauty of deeper connection.
I hope this lesson finds us all more amazed and more deeply connected with everyone from our closest loved ones to the strangers whom we walk past.

Today I have the most special guest co-host - someone whom I've dreamt of having on the podcast for a long time.
Krizell Sullano was my nurse at the UCLA medical center when I had a life-saving liver surgery in 2012.
Krizell is one of the most beautiful people I know, and she has impacted my life immeasurably. Today we talk candidly, honestly, musingly and emotionally about how sharing a deep connection with someone can change you forever.
I am beyond my ability to thank Krizell. She has been a true healer in my life - physically, emotionally and spiritually.
I wonder if you could join me this week in reaching out with gratitude to those in our lives who have made that kind of soul impact on us. Along with that, a deep bow of appreciation goes out to all of the nurses and healthcare workers. They are the truest of heroes.
Krizell Sullano is a registered nurse and cooking fanatic, (check out her Instagram @krizkitch for recipes and therapeutic videos) who thrives on connection. Krizell founded Everyday Women and used to host events with guest speakers and workshops for self love and connection in real life.

Amidst a very difficult world landscape, along with the accrued challenges of these last years, it seems all the more vital to come in with more kindness.
Today's episode has been on my heart for a long time. In a sense, these ideas would be a cornerstone to any of the other concepts we talk about.
I hope today allows you to identify the unnecessary pressures you may be carrying and to consider ways that we can be even kinder to ourselves (as well as to each other, of course).
I'm sending you my heart full of support and well wishes.
