The initiative to provide high standards in our industry. Today, we are joined by Marielle Weintraub. She is the Strategic Business Development Director for the Hemp Initiative at Eurofins Food Integrity and Innovation, formerly Covance Food Solutions. She is a founding board member and the current President for the US Hemp Authority and we are going to talk about an announcement recently made by the Hemp Authority. The actual certification program is the initiative to provide high standards in our industry. The U.S. Hemp Authority Certified Seal program was established in 2018 and funded by the U.S. Hemp Roundtable. It was developed with guidance from David Bossman, a founding member of AgWin Group, and collaborators include the Hemp Industries Association, state pilot project participants, industry-leading firms, top-tier testing laboratories, and quality assessors. Joel Stanley, chairman of Charlotte’s Web, had been collaborating with the Hemp Authority to create the quality standards. We talk about how much work it took to get all these great minds in the hemp space to come together and find an ultimate consensus. as well as how far she thinks the gap is on people distinguishing hemp from the stigma that came more from cannabis and how hemp got attached to it.
