“It’s okay not to succeed. It's okay to fail at something. It's okay to be vulnerable and to talk about those things openly… it’s okay to not be okay”
Dr. Ken Milne, who has been honoured with many accolades for his contribution to medical education and helping doctors provide the best evidence care. He is the recipient of the Judith E. Tintinalli Award for Outstanding Contribution in Education from The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) (remember he's a Canadian Physician) and for his FOAMed Excellence in Education Award by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM).
Dr. Milne is also well-known as the creator of the Skeptics' Guide to Emergency Medicine project (SGEM Podcast). This social media initiative provides evidence-based and patient-centered information about medicine to the world for free. NOTE: it's been translated into four languages! I join him in his Bat Cave as he shares his perspectives and insights on:
The Feminization of Medicine Vulnerability in Medicine Doctor Burnout and his journey and advice to navigate it
We talk about how EMR (Electronic Medical Records) are sucking the joy out of doctors
Why he couldn't be an Orthopedic surgeon. Despite all his successes, he's had failures and how he's handled it.
How his Bat Doc videos came to be.
How he came up with the Skeptics Guide to Emergency Medicine Podcast, which has helped thousands of physicians all over the world.
We cover a lot of ground in this interview. There's a reason he's so well-liked and sought after internationally for his perspective. He's a gracious human being who shows us how to succeed while still being human. You'll see why people come to him for advice. He calls himself a nerd, but he's the coolest nerd I've ever met.
I know you will enjoy this interview with the kind and courageous Dr. Ken Milne.
