  • Expanding State Parks; Wind Energy Endangers Whales and Raptors | Guest: D. Deason

  • $1Billion Plan to Preserve and Expand Texas State Parks | Guest: Doug Deason, Deason Foundation
Conservative Dallas businessman Doug Deason has teamed up with Luke Metzger, Executive Director of Environment Texas, to persuade Texas legislators to devote $1 billion to expanding Texas State Parks. Texas has an impressive $32 billion budget surplus. Mr. Deason explains the role of oil and gas severance taxes in creating the massive budget surplus, and the exploding Texas population that has outgrown the state’s available recreational space with as much as a six month wait to get a camp site in some state parks.
Deason explains how he teamed up with an unlikely ally after a Twitter battle over how many endangered species are killed each year by wind energy (blades). The two found common ground on the issue of conservation and teamed up with State Senator Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound) who is taking the lead in the legislature to advance the bill to expand state parks this legislative session.
What do Texan taxpayers get in exchange for 1 billion dollars? Deason gives the answer.
Jacki reviews the polling on the issue and the rapid pace of development in the state.
Deason explains that conservatives, particularly hunters and fisherman, are conservationists who use and value expansive wildlands more than most.
Deason and Jacki end with the importance of getting the younger generation out in nature and off the screens.

James C. Row, C.F.A., Founder and CEO of Capturiant, a new company that is working to be the leading environmental asset registry and exchange, believes that he has created new hope for bringing added expertise and clarity to the multi-trillion dollar “environmental asset” market.  For too long, ambiguous and sometimes misleading terms like “green” or “ESG” have been used by unregulated and unqualified nonprofit activists to seemingly arbitrarily praise or condemn corporations or asset classes, such that these labels have no clear meaning.  Capturiant works to improve standards and methodologies to bring sanity and greater clarity to the debate around what constitutes an environmental asset. - - - - -  Daniel Turner is Founder and Executive Director of Power the Future, an organization that advocates for the millions of men and women who work in the oil and gas industry.  Daniel reviews the efforts by the U.S. Congress to increase permitting for oil and gas, promote the building of new refineries, and increase mining.

  • Can Carbon Capture Tech Make the Climate Change Debate Moot? | Guest: C. McConnell
If carbon dioxide is the chief climate change concern, then why are environmentalists talking about wind, solar, and electric vehicles and not carbon capture technology? Charles McConnell, the Asst. Secretary of Energy during the Obama Administration, explains that carbon capture technology is already being deployed throughout the U.S. and will bring within reach the ability to actually dial up or dial down the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, solving climate challenges that excess CO2 could create. Jacki adds that best of all, this is the path that does not destabilize the electric grid nor require rare earth minerals that have a supply chain reliant on child labor and foreign adversaries.
