Since December, more than 23 whales have washed up dead along the East Coast of the United States. Some of the species at risk are endangered. Headlines have been quick to dismiss concerns that seismic surveys and underwater explosions to blast the setting for wind energy towers could be causing the whales to beach. The dead giveaway, however, is that federal agencies have issued permits to offshore wind developers that grant exemption from the laws against harassing or “taking” – killing – marine mammals. If wind farm development doesn’t kill whales, then why did the wind companies and government agree IN ADVANCE to shield the wind companies from environmental laws that ban the killing of whales? - - - - - Jacki asks, “Where is the environmental movement?!” We might ask the same question about East Palestine, Ohio. All we hear is crickets. Why is it that the most spectacular environmental disasters of our time seem to be of little interest to an environmental movement that takes in over 4 billion annually for activism? Texas legislators prepare to derail Biden’s proposed offshore wind farm off the Texas coast. The feds need the state’s permission to run lines from the federal waters to the state’s shores. Texas legislator Mayes Middleton explains that these farms and the lines interfere with commercial shipping, recreational fishing, and Texas wildlife. Moreover, the European-designed wind turbines and blades cannot withstand a category 4 or 5 hurricane, meaning they are destined for destruction if placed in the Texas Gulf Coast - arguably the worst place in America. Or anywhere on earth. Why should taxpayers foot the bill for a project that will be destroyed by mother nature? Sure, the wind farm builders will get to make money over and over again at taxpayer expense each time the wind farm is destroyed and rebuilt, but this is not a serious plan for resolving looming power outages.
