  • What you do not know is often more important than what you do know.
What you don't know is often more important than what you do know as far as how things will play out in life. In this game of League of Legends I am playing, I am having a very poor game relative to the rest of my team, but it doesn't end up mattering much in the end because a player on the opposing team quits the game. People often end up quitting when they are playing extremely poorly or are at odds with their teammates, and I could have very easily quit out of frustration as well. How many times does this happen in our life when we get so frustrated about one thing that is out of our control, that we then guarantee the outcome by giving up all together? I know I often did this to myself when it came to dating. I would get so paranoid about a girl not texting/calling me back, that I would do the same thing out of spite and force a break-up. Today, I have faith that if I do my best in life, good things will often happen as a result.

  • Most of what happens in life is good. Our default programming is to focus mostly on the bad.
Most of what happens in life is good, and yet our default programming tells us to focus on the negative things. I was reminded of this today as I was reading the most recent reviews on my Udemy courses. While at least 80% of the reviews were positive, I couldn't help but focus on the negative reviews. I found myself overlooking 4+ kind, positive reviews praising my courses, to focus on the first negative review I could find. We are programmed this way as a survival instinct. In primitive times if we were to miss a predator in the wild, life would be short lived. However, in a world with very few problems, focusing on the negative hardly makes life worth living. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • Why do I have the same 10 goals every day?
Why do I have the same goals each day? Today, I set goals I can accomplish within one day. This doesn't mean I am not aware of long-term goals I would like to accomplish, it's that these daily, short-term goals are primary. Long-term goals must exist within a daily goal for me. For example, I am interested in meeting a target weight. In the past, I may have said I wanted to be at a certain weight by a specific month. However, by setting daily goals to eat healthy and exercise everyday, the long-term goal is taken in to account within the primary objective. Putting an emphasis on short-term goals has enabled me to be far more productive than I ever was when I was focused on burdensome, often intimidating, long-term goals. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and i appreciate your feedback!

  • 99% of the difficulties I face in my life, I create.
99% of the difficulties I face in my life today are ones that I have created. This power thought is helpful for me today, because it tells me that I ultimately hold the solution to all of the problems in my own life. How many times have you blamed people around you, government, companies, etc. for the problems in your life? I know I did this for most of my adult life, and the silly thing is that I could often see how other people were putting themselves in unfavorable situations, but it was difficult for me to look in the mirror and truly identify the root of my problems. Today, I am thankful to know the true origin of most problems in my life, and this makes it easier to resolve them and be at peace. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • When I do things for the right reasons, good things usually follow.
I typically experience amazing results when I do things for the right reasons, and accept that what happens in the future is often out of my control. This idea has proved to be helpful both as an entrepreneur and in my personal life. As an entrepreneur online, I often have to take a leap of faith when beginning work on a new project. In my personal life, doing things for the right reasons helps me to try the best at what I am doing, and respect the effort of those around me. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • Virtue can only flourish among equals.
Today, knowing that I am no better than anyone else, and no worse than anyone else, gives me peace of mind. I used to work so hard to try and prove that I was better than everyone because on the inside I felt as if I was inferior to those around me. Viewing everyone as my equal allows me to fully respect the decisions of those around me. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • The difference between knowing and guessing.
There is a world of difference between guessing and knowing. I used to be a know it all who would always put in my own two cents regardless if I really knew the answer to a question or not. Seeing the difference between guessing and knowing is the difference between being open to learning what will take place, and being closed minded because you already think you know everything. I hope this power thought is useful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • What is there to lose in a game online?
What is there to lose in a game online? What am I really losing in this game of League of Legends? People seem to get so upset when they are losing at a game, but what are the actual consequences that will negatively impact their life? I used to be so obsessed with winning in online games, that it is a relief to finally be able to play games for the fun of them. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • I try to be a conduit for all the good I see in the world!
The other day as I was browsing through some of the kind reviews people have left on my Udemy courses, it made me think about why people love my courses so much. I view myself as just an ordinary guy, and I don't believe myself to be any better at what I do than my colleagues. Then, I read, "Jerry is so enthusiastic you can tell he loves his work, and really wants to help others." This left a huge impression on me because I didn't always feel this way about my work, much less about the world at large. In the past, I was always obsessed over what I didn't have, instead of appreciating all of the blessings in my life. Today, I take the time to fully appreciate what is going on around me each moment. I love the way my wife sings to our daughter, I love the way Eckhart Tolle speaks in his books, I am thankful for the love and support I receive from my support group. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a conduit for everything good in the world, and that is why I take the time to project a message of love in my videos, podcast, and blog posts. I hope this power though ist helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!

  • Being free of the basic instinct to complain is a miracle.
Complaining is a basic instinct that every human being is born with. This is how you let your parents know you were hungry as a baby, this is how you let your family know your basic needs were not being met. Yet, it took me a long time to break out of my basic baby instinct, that if I yelled and screamed I would eventually get my way. When we lose at the basic game of life it's easy to want to complain and lash out at others, but complaining will ultimately hurt you more than anyone else. Today, I am thankful to be in a place where I can be more of accepting of those around me. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback!
