Robin Williams was a great entertainer, a great comedian, a great human being. He blessed us with so much laughter and thought. He has provided very profound quotes on life. He made me laugh and he made me cry, and that was all in comedy, he's also made me cry in some of his more serious movies.

Robin Williams and his friends changed the world with Comic Relief, a charity that used comedy to enlighten the world about homelessness. Living in San Francisco, where Robin Williams lived, worked and played, I understand his concern. When you have a big heart, like I believe he did, you can't help but be concerned.

Jason's favorite quote is from The Great One, Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky was one of the best hockey players of all time. His records still stand and his legacy will go on. But, he would not have scored as much as he did if he hadn't taken the shots.

Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't want to work hard. ~~ Eugene Chen

Eugene Chen is one of the hardest working people I know. I know Eugene, very well. Eugene was on our Goal Getting Podcast, Episode 24, Toastmaster to Goals Master.

There are many people that are very talented that don't really want to work hard. Or, they may even believe that they don't have to work hard. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't want to work hard.

You can, with drive, determination, passion and hard work, do things that someone with talent won't do. It doesn't take talent to do many things. You can get far with the skills you learn.

Aim at the sun and hit an Eagle. Aim at an Eagle and hit a rock! ~~ American Indian Proverb

I heard this when I first got out of high school and it has been one of the bedrocks of my belief system ever since. I heard it at a motivational seminar I went to. I cannot remember who it was that I heard it from, but hopefully from an American Indian . . . but not likely.

Like most proverbs, and we discussed the definition of a proverb in another Quote of the Day that featured a proverb, there is an element of wisdom and advice in the quote or proverb.

I think what the object lesson was here is that you must always aim higher than your target, your goal. Don't just aim at something that is easy to achieve, but shoot for the sun and you will likely hit the Eagle, your goal. But, if you just shoot for what you want, then you could miss it and hit a rock.

Aim high, set stretch goals. Set goals that are out of your comfort zone. Dream Big!

Hey, don't go out and shoot at Eagles just because I used that term. I believe it is illegal to even own an American Bald Eagle feather, much less kill one. That is a serious crime today. They are magnificent creatures! A beautiful site. But don't kill or try to buy the feathers of one.

Let's put a little action plan in this quote as well. Just because you aim at the sun, doesn't mean you are going to hit the target, right? What are you doing to have to do to hit the target. Let the arrow loose! If you don't let the arrow loose, Perform an Action, you will just stand there looking at the Eagle, in all it's majesty, and have a memory of what was. Unless you let the arrow fly! Your target / goal will just be a memory, a dream.
