  • An Author's Afternoon - Tina Andrews, Rodger Howard and R.A. Revis 10-13-2021
Subscribe to The Locher Room: https://bit.ly/TheLocherRoom

Please join me for An Author’s Afternoon live in The Locher Room to meet three talented writers who will be here to share their stories with all of you.

Tina Andrews is an author and an actress who appeared in ROOTS and played Valerie Grant on Days of Our Lives. She received a Writers Guild Award for her Sally Hemings: An American Scandal and followed that up with a bio-pic on Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

Andrews is often referenced as a Historical Griot, and her book Charlotte Sophia is a groundbreaking, shocking, and thoroughly timely tale about Queen Charlotte, who is thought to be England’s first biracial royal and who is portrayed in the Netflix smash hit Bridgerton.

Long before the popular Netflix series, Tina Andrews—a WGA and NAACP Image Award-winning writer, producer, and director—developed an interest in Queen Charlotte. After years of research and writing, she published Charlotte Sophia in 2013, and the book has just been released as an audiobook by Recorded Books.

The film and television rights to the book, which covers everything from Queen Charlotte’s efforts to conceal her African heritage to her forbidden love for Johann Christian Bach, were recently acquired by HBO Max, with Andrews writing the pilot.

Rodger Howard spent over 30 years covering television news in the city of Los Angeles as a photojournalist. He believes that while his profession provides a videographer the opportunity to share stories and experiences with the public, it also carries a tremendous responsibility. Photographers have the obligation to tell the whole story, to provide some perspective and critical information along with visuals.

Rodger’s book, fOCUS, the (almost 100%) True Tale of an Intrepid News Photographer, is like nothing you’ve read before. This exciting novel is based on true-life stories of an experienced news videographer named Ron Sharp. Ron’s career has highs, lows, grinding boredom and heart-racing excitement, sometimes all in the same day. Beauty, Heroism, Tragedy, and Evil - All part of the job. His novel was released in July 2021.

Author R. A. Revis was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and has been a fan of fantasy novels for almost as long as he has been able to read. His first novel, The Dark Times Saga: The Black Forest, is fueled by his fascination of the paranormal and the supernatural, including his love of ancient history and religions. The Dark Times Saga: The Black Forest by R A Revis, was released in July 2021.

Dark Times Saga: The Black Forest is a tale of good versus evil, light versus dark, and takes place on a fictional new continent far west of medieval England. It’s a story that intertwines myths with reality during an apocalyptic time for the world. The story takes place during a gothic Arthurian age where monsters of myth and legend were all too real and the dawn of science was fast approaching. This novel will appeal to people who enjoyed “Game of Thrones”, “The Witcher”, “Lord of the Rings”, and other fantasy adventure novels with a dark foreboding tale, that include rich believable characters and a setting within a historical backdrop of a grim world filled with horrors that lurk in the night.

Subscribe to The Locher Room: https://bit.ly/TheLocherRoom

Please join me for a very special episode of The Locher Room featuring coming out stories about gay sons and their mothers as we celebrate National Coming Out Day.

Joining me for this special episode will be Psychotherapist Rick Miller who became curious about the relationship between gay men and their mothers, a theme resonating throughout his clinical practice which led him to explore this special relationship in depth. He found that virtually no one was writing about this critical bond. Rick launched the nonprofit organization, Gay Sons and Mothers as a result. This project validates the significance of a mother’s role in her son’s life where, for many decades, she received little encouragement from others!

In addition to Rick, mother and son Helen and Rick Garceau will be here to discuss his coming out, and how he postponed this due to fears of rejection by his parents. Their responses to him were completely accepting, he didn’t need to wait so long!

Please join us to hear these heartwarming stories and my personal coming out with my late mother, Fifi Locher.

  • An Author's Afternoon - Jeremy Murphy 10-6-2021
Subscribe to The Locher Room: https://bit.ly/TheLocherRoom

Please join me for An Author's Afternoon featuring public relations' snarkiest publicist and new author, Jeremy Murphy. Jeremy expertly chronicles his hatred, love, indifference, amusement, and scorn for the profession in F*ck Off, Chloe due out March of 2022. From entitled millennials to surly reporters, obnoxious clients, and cumbersome, color-coded “trackers,” Murphy takes a scalpel and glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the PR industry in a searing, hilarious, and pissy voice that his own psychiatrist finds “deeply concerning.” His collection of annoyances shed light on the industry’s idiosyncrasies, insanities, contradictions, and past due invoices, providing an illuminating window into the dirty world of public relations not even Xanax can help. Complementing the scathing prose are color-in illustrations by artist Darren Greenblatt, creator of the “Ugly Lives of Beautiful People” sketch series.

Murphy is the founder of 360bespoke, a media agency that provides public relations, content development, reputation management and crisis communications for clients in categories such as luxury, arts, fashion/ beauty, hospitality, travel, media, start-ups and entrepreneurs. He is especially known for securing marquee media placements for a quirky collection of clients who include a violinist, skin care brand, celebrity cosmetics line, fashion labels, world renowned florist and opera star, among others. Previously, Murphy spent 14 years at CBS where he served many roles as a Vice President, most notably as a company spokesperson and editor-in-chief.

Jeremy and I first met when I was working on As the World Turns and Guiding Light. He gained industry recognition at CBS where he created and edited its glossy magazine Watch.

Don't miss the chance to read a laugh-out-loud account of working in media and meet Jeremy right here in The Locher Room.

Please join me for a very special look at Dark Shadows and Beyond The Jonathan Frid Story in The Locher Room. This is the first feature-length documentary devoted to Canadian-born actor Jonathan Frid, who became a television sensation with his portrayal of guilt-ridden vampire Barnabas Collins on Dark Shadows, the 1966 – 1971 daytime drama that remains a beloved cult classic today. Joining me to talk about Jonathan and the documentary is Emmy-winning soap opera producer Mary O’Leary (The Young And The Restless, General Hospital, One Life To Live, Another World, Guiding Light) who wrote and produced the documentary. Mary will be joined by Dark Shadows actress Marie Wallace who played Jenny Collins, one of three parts she played on the series.

Who was the man beneath the vampire’s cloak? The documentary reveals Frid’s joys, struggles, artistic triumphs and rise to fame in part through his own written correspondences, read by Ian Buchanan (General Hospital, Twin Peaks) and the reminiscences of family, friends, and co-stars.

Among those offering insights are veteran talk show host Dick Cavett; actress Marion Ross (Happy Days), Anthony Zerbe (Omega Man, Harry O), Christina Pickles (St. Elsewhere, Friends) and Dark Shadows colleagues David Selby, Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Nancy Barrett, Marie Wallace, James Storm, John Karlen and Dan Curtis. Frid (who passed away in 2012 at age 87) appears in never-before-seen interviews as well as rare performance material and archival images.
