Did the Pirates franchise run too long? 100%. But is the first Pirates picture amazing. 100% it is. This movie had people unironically looking for sea shanties to sing, reading historical books about pirates, and using phrases like "as it were," and "savvy." Depp shows off just how good he is with another character that is not like his other ones. Fantastic picture. Highly rewatchable.

Die Hard with a Vengeance if often (and rightfully) overshadowed by the first Die Hard picture. That said, this movie is fantastic, and a wonderful entry into the series after a weak second movie.
