Welcome to the second episode of The Mane Land PawedCast this week! We're still adjusting to our twice-a-week system, so we apologize that this show is a teeny smidge past an hour long. We started this show off with discussion of The Beautiful Game, an exhibition match coming to Exploria Stadium this summer. We already know Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos will be there, and more star players will be announced in the coming weeks.

We welcomed Alan Van Wyk from Northland Soccer Journal (formerly E Pluribus Loonum but now an independent site like ours) to get inside the goings on at Minnesota United, a club that Orlando City has not met on the pitch since the MLS is Back Tournament semifinals back in 2020. Alan was kind enough to answer our questions and some from our Founders as well.

This week's mailbagbox asked us where we'd go on the road if all expenses were paid. We did take economics into account in our response. Michael Citro and David Rohe host the inaugural episode of SkoPurp Soccer: An Orlando Pride PawedCast, a new podcast dedicated to the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League and women's soccer coverage. This maiden voyage explains the origin of the show's name and the guys discuss the play of the Pride players in international matches during this window. They also break down recent roster moves by the club, including Leah Pruitt's retirement and the signing of midfielder Thais Reiss.

Former Pride midfielder and current (injured) Central Florida Crusaders player Bridget Callahan is the show's first guest and it's appropriate because she popularized the term that gave the podcast its name (SkoPurp!). Bridget fills us in on the origin of the term, how she came to join the city's new indoor soccer team, her injury while playing goalkeeper (!) with the Crusaders, what she's up to now, and more.

There's some USWNT talk as Michael and Dave discuss the injury to Mallory Swanson against Ireland and the loss of her talents for the upcoming World Cup.

Finally, we break down the Pride's upcoming match against NJ/NY Gotham FC on Saturday night at Exploria Stadium, with our key match-ups and score predictions.

Welcome to the first week of a new era for The Mane Land PawedCast, as we pivot to a twice-a-week system, and drop the Orlando Pride from this show. Our coverage of the NWSL side is being repackaged as its own dedicated podcast, which kicks off this week.

It was absolutely the wrong week to switch formats when you consider that Orlando City didn't play this week and neither did the Pride, however, that was also the appeal of doing it this week. There were (and are) bound to be hiccups and so it's better to have those when there's less content.

The idea of the switch of this show is simple: our show is rather long for a weekly soccer podcast and it's hard for listeners to find enough time to listen to them all the way through in one sitting. We can bring you more detail and still give listeners a more digestible show if we switch to two episodes per week. This is the first of the two you'll get this week.

Since Orlando City was off, we opened the show with some information about our move from SBNation to our own independent site (we hope you like it), the launch of SkoPurp Soccer: An Orlando Pride PawedCast later this week, and the format change for this show. We also touched on some international news that affects one of the more prominent Lions, Facundo Torres.

With the senior Lions off, we went into much more detail in our analysis and recap of Orlando City B's 2-0 win over Inter Miami II on Easter Sunday and discussed the honors that Favian Loyola captured after that win. We also discussed the OCSC academy teams at the Generation Adidas Cup tournament. Both the U-15 and U-17 squads had solid runs and were among the academy teams that impressed in the competition, along with the usual suspects (Philadelphia and FC Dallas, to name a couple).

After a win at Philadelphia, Orlando City's homecoming wasn't a fun one Saturday, but if one looks beyond the scoreline of the Lions' 2-0 loss to Nashville SC, the performance didn't match the result. The Lions — for the most part, anyway — controlled the match, generated the most chances, and honestly should have scored a couple of goals. They didn't. Instead, they got caught twice by the visitors, who created only a few chances, but converted on two of them, and the first was a gift.

We break down a frustrating home loss but we also aren't ready to call for anyone's head just yet, and we explain why. We also select our Man of the Match picks and look forward to Orlando getting healthy and rested for a meeting on April 15 with Minnesota United on the road.

We don't normally talk about OCB second, but the Young Lions are the club's only undefeated professional side after a 2-1 win over Huntsville City in the club's home opener. Alex Freeman scored both goals for OCB and the team was albe to withstand a lot of pressure against the visitors to improve to 2-0-0.

Speaking of Freeman, he joined us as this week's guest and we asked him about his experiences in camp, what Oscar Pareja has told him he needs to do better to get first-team minutes, how he adjusts to playing for OCB and then quickly changing gears for international play, and much more. Big thanks to Alex for coming on the show and to a couple of our Founders for submitting some questions.

The Pride dropped a heartbreaker in their home opener but man, did they ever create some scoring chances against Angel City. The visitors had to rely on a penalty and a last-gasp header, in addition to numerous missed opportunities by the home team to take three points out of Exploria Stadium for the first time. Ally Watt had a rough match in front of goal but better days lie ahead if Seb Hines can get that kind of performance out of his team each week. We also discussed NWSL expansion and the Pride's recent signing of three young additions to the team.

The OCSC academy teams won their groups at the Generation Adidas tournament and will be in action today as a result. It's always nice to see the kids doing well against difficult competition.
