The missing link in your healing episodes

  • 68 : From Frustration to Flow - Healing the Liver–Gallbladder Axis

    Episode Description

In this episode, we explore the energetic partnership between the liver and gallbladder, two organs that govern far more than physical detox and digestion.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine and Energy Medicine perspective, this axis influences emotional flow, life direction, creativity, courage, and decision-making.

Imbalances in liver–gallbladder energy can show up as feeling stuck, irritable, overwhelmed, indecisive, disconnected from purpose, or emotionally suppressed, patterns so many people experience in modern life.

    This Episode covers:

    • What the liver and gallbladder govern energetically
    • Why the liver is associated with vision, flow, and emotional movement
    • How the gallbladder relates to courage, choice, and personal authority
    • Common emotional and energetic signs of imbalance
    • How suppressed emotions and unresolved tension impact this organ axis
    • Why feeling "stuck" often reflects energetic stagnation
    • The connection between life direction and physical vitality

When flow is restored in the liver and gallbladder energy, clarity returns — emotionally, energetically, and in life direction.

This conversation offers a deeper lens into how your body communicates through energy, emotion, and consciousness — and how restoring flow can support both vitality and clarity.

  • 66 : How limiting beliefs are formed, why we stay stuck in them and how to work with them

In today's episode, we explore where limiting beliefs originate, why they become so strong within us, and how early emotional experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world.

We look at how the ego forms its identity, what happens when love or acknowledgment feels conditional, and why those early moments become internal truth.

    We cover :

    What are limiting beliefs?

We break down what they truly are (and what they are not), and why so many of us unknowingly live from them.

    How are they formed?

We look at early childhood, individuation, ego development and the illusion of separation — the moment the mind begins to decide how things are.

Why do they feel so powerful?

You'll hear how the brain reinforces belief through neural wiring, emotional memory and pattern repetition — and why it becomes the path of least resistance.

    Why insight alone isn't enough

Knowing your belief isn't the same as shifting it. We explore resistance, emotion stored in the limbic system, and why awareness can switch off once we think we've "figured it out."

    The 12 core foundational beliefs

We introduce the twelve most common limiting beliefs and explain how they drive behaviour — you'll hear them explored in depth inside the episode.

This conversation is an invitation back to awareness — a deeper understanding of who you are beneath conditioning, wounding and survival patterning.

If you're curious about the beliefs shaping your life, this episode will open a doorway.

  • 65 : When good qualities become unhealthy coping mechanisms and why this matters for your health

We often get praised for being hardworking, reliable, selfless, or endlessly positive. But what if those "good qualities" are actually unhealthy coping mechanisms in disguise?

In this episode, Antoinette unpacks the hidden side of behaviours like people‑pleasing, perfectionism, overworking, and constant optimism.

While society rewards them, they can quietly erode our mental and physical health.

You'll discover how these traits, when taken too far, mask stress, fuel burnout, and even contribute to long‑term health issues.

More importantly, you'll learn how to spot the difference between genuine strengths and unhealthy patterns — and why awareness is the first step toward healthier living.

Antoinette shares her personal journey of discovering these mechanisms after being diagnosed with cancer at age 56.

    This Episode covers :

    · How people‑pleasing can look like kindness but lead to resentment and anxiety

    · Why perfectionism disguised as "high standards" increases stress and risk of heart disease

    · The hidden costs of overworking and busyness on sleep, immunity, and emotional wellbeing

    · How hyper‑independence often stems from trauma and can lead to isolation

    · Why constant optimism can block healing and suppress real emotions

    · The toll of caretaking and taking responsibility for everyone else's feelings and well being

    · How humour and lightness can mask pain and prevent deeper connections

Why It Matters for our Health :

Chronic hidden stress is the most damaging kind. When coping mechanisms masquerade as good qualities, they keep us stuck in cycles that elevate cortisol, disrupt sleep, weaken immunity, and increase risks for anxiety, depression, and cardiovascular and other diseases. Over time, the body keeps the score.

  • 64 : Near Enemies – how to identify the hidden enemy within and what to do about it

In this Episode we explore the concept of "near enemies"—traits and emotional states that masquerade as virtues but subtly sabotage our self-growth, relationships and emotional integrity.

What if the very qualities you pride yourself on—compassion, honesty, equanimity, loving-kindness, are quietly being undermined by their deceptive cousins?

Near enemies are subtle distortions of noble qualities which are unknown to us until we uncover them. They feel familiar, even virtuous, but actually lack the wisdom and authenticity of their true counterparts. Applies to nearly any virtue we hope to cultivate.

While the far enemy is the clear opposite of the virtue, the near enemy appears close to the desired virtue but actually impedes it. Or we may simply confuse them for the 'true' virtue.

On the surface, near enemies may feel helpful or warranted but they can mislead us into thinking we are achieving what we hope to achieve when it is the opposite.

By their nature they are hard to recognize because they're very similar to positive traits and states of mind. Noticing and rejecting them requires self-awareness and vigilance, and it helps if you know what to look for.

    In this Episode we:

    · Give many examples of the difference between far enemies (obvious opposites) and near enemies (deceptive lookalikes)

Talk you through how to differentiate near enemies from noble virtues

Offer tools on how to change them

Whether you're on a spiritual path, a healing journey, or simply trying to be a better human, this episode will help you uncover the hidden patterns that hold you back—and guide you toward a more honest, connected and wholehearted life.

  • 62 : Book Review — When the Body Says No by Gabor Maté

In this powerful episode, we dive deep into Gabor Maté's groundbreaking book When the Body Says No, exploring the profound connection between emotional repression, psychological stress, and chronic illness. From breast cancer to Alzheimer's, Maté reveals how our bodies often speak the truths we've been too afraid to voice.

    What You'll Learn

    • How chronic stress embeds itself in our cells—not just our minds
    • Why saying "yes" too often can become a silent disease
    • The impact of childhood emotional patterns on adult health (see Episode 54)
    • Why compassion without boundaries leads to burnout
    • How illness can be a message—not a punishment
    • The importance of integrating science with personal story in healing

Seven Transformative Lessons from Maté :

    1. The Body Keeps the Score of Silence. Suppressed emotions don't disappear—they manifest physically.

    2. Saying "Yes" Too Often Becomes a Disease of Its Own. Boundaries are not selfish—they're survival.

    3. Stress Is Not Just in the Mind, but in the Cells. Chronic stress erodes health slowly but powerfully.

    4. Childhood Patterns Echo in Adult Illness. Early emotional suppression can shape lifelong health.

    5. Compassion Without Boundaries Becomes Self-Destruction. True compassion includes care for the self.

    6. Illness Is Not Blame, but Message. Our bodies speak when our voices don't.

    7. Healing Requires Both Science and Story. Medicine must meet meaning for true healing.

This episode may stir discomfort—but it also offers hope. As Maté reminds us, the most dangerous wounds are often invisible. But by listening to our bodies, honouring our emotions, and setting boundaries, we can reclaim our health and our wholeness.

    • How to hold suffering without being consumed by it

Wisdom to take away from the Episode

"The way you approach suffering will determine whether it heals or annihilates."

"Like fire that purifies gold, suffering can burn away the false and leave only the essential."

"The wound is the place where the Light enters you." — Rumi

    Caveat

This episode does not glorify suffering. Some pain is unjust and requires systemic change and support.

But when suffering arises, and we choose to meet it with intention, it can become the Missing Link in our healing.

About The missing link in your healing

From the publisher's feed

If we want to heal, we cannot understand the body in isolation from our mind, our emotions, our past, how we experience our daily lives and the environment we live in.
