Regional Director of the Europe and Middle East (EME) region, and former missionary to Holland, Bro. Mike Tuttle, reminds us that our job is to make people hungry for Christ, and ultimately, act as the bridge to Christ.  Bro. Tuttle calls for intentional and focused ministry to affect this hunger and shares battle-tested ministry strategies. 

The EME region is collectively praying for and working toward the “Connecting Cities to Christ” initiative, in which new churches are planted each year, with a special focus on the capital cities. This year's goal is to plant 21 new churches in 2021, with a goal to plant 22 new churches in 2022, continuing on this same trajectory each successive year.

Veteran missionary to Guatemala, Brad Thompson challenges us to move beyond “the missionary must win the whole nation by himself” mentality, into the realm of ministry multiplication through the power of transformative teaching. We are to duplicate ourselves in those we teach because that is what Jesus did. 

Bro. Thompson candidly shares his frustrations and successes in the process of growing a world-class Bible School program in the nation of Guatemala, along with a series of “student-first” principles for Bible School programs. 

As a Regional Coordinator for the UPCI Global Missions official training arm, Global Association of Theological Studies (GATS), Bro. Thompson also describes the GATS Global Educators program. A veteran missionary of 18 years explains one of the newest strategies of the UPCI for evangelizing unreached people groups in Access Challenged Nations (ACNs).  ACNs are characterized by two or more of the following criteria: Little or no known indigenous apostolic presence, challenging visa and immigration policies, or persecution. 

The extensive ACN network combines a team of researchers with national churches, already appointed missionaries in gateway nations, and even other Christians in different denominations to uncover solutions for penetrating ACNs.

Raised from age eight as a missionary kid (MK) in South Korea, Bishop Bernard recalls what it was like to live under the constant specter of communist aggression and in a distinctly different (Eastern) culture. While the challenges to MKs are readily apparent, Bishop Bernard brings into sharp relief the seldom acknowledged advantages of being raised as an MK in a foreign culture.

The bishop also shares his thoughts on emerging foreign fields (e.g., unreached people groups) and enduring opportunities for missionaries in “established” or “mature” foreign fields.

To cap it all off, the bishop lists the characteristics he would want to see in the current and future corps of short- and long-term global missionaries within the UPCI.

From a miracle offering that helped send them get back on the field to raising $150,000 annually to support national missionaries, Aaron and Tiffany Anderson, missionaries to Brazil, remind us that launching out in faith takes many forms—including financial provision.  

The Andersons also share their tried & tested advice for staying fresh during the fundraising process of deputation: Exercise, rest (no, seriously, take a day off!), have fun, and embrace the process.

In this week’s podcast, veteran missionaries Ron and Terry Brian give powerful witness to the truth that one can be a missionary and still take care of those who are hurting.
