The MovieFilm Podcast

As has become a late summer tradition here at the MovieFilm Podcast, we hopped on mic to talk through another TERMIMATOR sequel! This time out it's TERMINATOR GENISYS in the barrel, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Despite a game performance from returning star Arnold Schwarzenegger, we weren't big fans of this one when it first hit theaters, but has the intervening decade softened our views? You'll have to check it out to find out, either by listening separately or watching along with us!

Marvel's first family is back in THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS, and Liam Neeson is picking up where Leslie Nielsen left off in the new THE NAKED GUN! The NAKED GUN legacy sequel is in theaters today, but it's not like we needed a reason to revisit the raucous original from 1988. Listen separately or laugh right along with as as we talk through the Leslie Nielsen comedy classic based on the short-lived TV series POLICE SQUAD!

A new FANTASTIC FOUR is in theaters today, and we thought it was a perfect time to dip into the archives and revisit the one from 2005. It was a simpler time, when budgets were lower, needle drops were more plentiful and the MCU was still three years away, but there's still some charm in this mid-aughts Marvel movie. Listen separately or watch along as we talk through the Tim Story-directed superhero opus starring Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and a pre-Captain America Chris Evans!

Superman has returned to the movies, so we thought it was a perfect time to revisit 2006's SUPERMAN RETURNS! The Bryan Singer-directed superhero sequel was meant to revitalize the Man of Steel's movie fortunes in the mid-aughts, but it failed to take flight, leading to nearly two decades of studio indecision. We certainly have some thoughts on this would-be-epic, from its fraught production history to its eventual evaluation, and we go through it all in this extended conversation, which you can listen to on its own or while watching along with us!
