The offense could not overcome the pitching problems and the White Sox lost to the Mets, 11-10. Lucas Giolito gave up three homeruns and walked five as he could not get out of the fourth inning. It was one of the worst starts of his season and it came at a very bad time. Sox relievers, Bryan Shaw and Tanner Banks, did not help matters as they gave up three runs collectively. Sox offense battled and almost completed the comeback. Sox scored five runs in the seventh inning and had multiple opportunities throughout the game to score additional runs, including in the ninth inning. Yasmani Grandal and Jake Burger each had three runs batted in. Tim Anderson had a three hit night. White Sox send Touki Toussaint to the mound on Wednesday to face Justin Verlander.
