They say it’s the most wonderful time of the year, the time when Christmas gets cranked up with the family, the friends, the food, the football. But what about the fishing? Well, the weather outside certainly isn’t frightful; in fact, the sun has been beaming to the point that Capt. Scott wound up looking like Rudolph’s nose!

But you won’t believe everything Capt. Kevin had to go through to get to the show tonight! It’s worth the listen just for that…but don’t think you won’t get a great read on the forecast for you to find out how you’re going to do in First Coast waters as we get closer to the happiest season of all!

Jeff was back after two weeks of OSR, and he was raring to go! As you would expect, there was a lot of fishing and hunting talk…and we even got into a little – hold your nose – political talk because of the craziness surrounding lobster fishing up in Maine. But don’t worry…there was plenty to laugh about, including Kirk’s rooster impersonation!

Capt. Kevin, Capt. Ricky and Capt. Scott were back after their Thanksgiving break from the show with time on their side (thank you Rolling Stones). More specifically, they were talking about the pros and cons of daylight savings time, and most importantly, how it affects the way they fish (and get their clients out there).

Of course, the guys also talked about how things were going in the water this past week, and gave everyone a good idea of how the whether the weather (that’s fun to say) is going to help or hurt your efforts as we all roll into December.

Not gonna lie, Thanksgiving week has the Outdoors Show all messed up. Thursday’s festivities eliminated most outdoor activities, and it also knocked out the Fishing Forecast. Jeff was out again this week (doing some serious OSR, of course), so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk pulled a rabbit out of their hats: they tapped BOTH of Kevin’s Forecast co-hosts, Capt. Scott Shank and Capt. Ricky “Hollywood” Poupore to come in for some fun!

So, with four charter captains in the studio, you could bet there’d be some fishing talk. But if you’re still thinking whitetail, there was A LOT of hunting talk, too. Jeff even called in to talk about how things have been going up in Georgia, and all the guys had plenty to talk about.

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: If you’re gonna clean sheepshead, you could probably use a mega-box of disposable gloves. The guys are all about Dark Light black exam gloves!

With the Jaguars on their bye week, Jeff decided to head out for Georgia and get some well-deserved OSR time. Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk then called on Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott Shank to fill the third seat for this week’s episode.

Now here’s the riddle of the morning: what do three veteran charter captains talk about when the weather’s been a bit less than optimal? Here’s the answer: THEY TALK FISHING. Why? Because they’re REALLY good at what they do, and they can catch ’em no matter what! LOL

And yes, Kirk and Kevin talked deer hunting as well…how could they not?

With Capt. Kevin doing some OSR (a.k.a. deer hunting), Capt. Scott took the wheel for this episode to talk about the weather and everything going on post-Nicole. It was quite the tough assignment for him, however, because there wasn’t a whole heck of a lot to talk about. Cold front coming through makes for sporty conditions…and not much fun when you’re trying to hook up.

The question, as always, is this: will we get a break? Will we have a chance to land some First Coast fish? Listen in to find out…

If you would have asked any of the guys back in the summer about November, none of them would have predicted a hurricane hitting. Nicole did a number on the beach, and there’s a lot to talk about regarding the effects on the fishery.

Aside from the weather, the guys probably wouldn’t have said all three of them would be on the board during whitetail season, but that’s the case this fall! Kirk dropped a great buck this week, and he shared the story during this episode.

Obviously, the talk was all about Nicole, the first hurricane to make landfall since 1935. She made all kinds of crazy weather patterns across Florida over the past several days, and put a stop to fishing (at least for a few days). The good news is that the First Coast didn’t see too much damage because of it, but what about the weather for the upcoming week? Will there be some good fishing to be had?
