"I'm too young to have a prolapse" is what I often hear when clients talk to me about their diagnosis. And this is usually shrouded in shame, guilt, fear and a lack of good information about what to do.
Prolapse is thought to affect nearly a third of all women, at some point in their lives. Childbirth, no. and babysize, birth intervention, menopause, chronic constipation, waist: hip ratio and hysterectomy are all risk factors for occurrence, as well as connective tissue disorders and a history of straining, heavy lifting, poor core function etc.
Today, I tackle the stigma on this topic and explain more about pelvic organ prolapse (POP), who is likely to be affected, when and most importantly, how we can change our habits and training techniques to better support our pelvic organs.
