The guys recapped the three pieces of Steelers news on the day. The team hired David Corley as the assistant QB coach, tendered Marcus Allen and claimed Miles Boykin from the Ravens. The guys also got back into the interview with Merril Hoge, which was a huge endorsement for Kenny Pickett.  

Steelers insider Brian Batko joined the show. Brian gave his initial reaction to Miles Boykin after the Steelers claimed him off waivers from the Ravens. Brian gave his predictions on what the Steelers will look like after the draft unfolds. He said he’d rather cast a wider net when it comes to the draft. Brian said drafting a safety at 20th overall is a real possibility because he doesn’t know which way the team is leaning on Terrell Edmunds or Tyrann Mathieu.

Merril got into the 2022 QB class, saying Kenny Pickett is the head of the class and it’s “not even close” when it comes to a transitional skillset. He said anticipation and accuracy are two of the biggest things for a young QB getting into the league and Pickett is the only one he thinks has both right now. Pickett was the only QB that got any sort of endorsement from Merril. He also got into players that get blown up because of their measurables versus how well they can actually play.

Poni questioned Jeff on why the team just hired an assistant quarterbacks coach a week before the draft. The guys got into the Diontae Johnson situation and how it could work for the Steelers. He thinks an extension could be the solution.

Poni pushed for Andrew McCutchen to be the Pirates right fielder instead of Hoy Park or Cole Tucker. Per Greg, McCutchen said he got a phone call from the Pirates, but left the decision up to his agent. Greg touted the sight line he gets in Milwaukee, but isn’t a fan of the retractable roof. He also made a charge for Kevin Newman to Poni’s dismay. Greg even said Newman versus Jack Wilson is a “flip of the coin” on defense.
