Another cut from Art Rooney II had him commenting on the hiring of Brian Flores last week. Rooney talked about how he will work alongside Mike Tomlin and Teryl Austin. Chris liked what he heard. He said it sounded promising that Flores will be involved in the defense. Chris liked the possibilities it left the Steelers next year with the defense and how things will be handled by the coaching staff. Chris raised concern with the amount of egos in the room, but doesn’t see it being a huge deal in a negative light.

Art Rooney II talked to the media yesterday and had a small endorsement for Mason Rudolph as the team’s next quarterback. Chris knew it was typical speak you would hear from an owner, especially Rooney. But the endorsement for Rudolph cited his mobility, which isn’t much, but it is more than Ben Roethlisberger. Chris had the feeling that Rudolph is easily the betting favorite as of now to be the team’s starting QB. 

Another point of conversation in the Art Rooney II discussion was surrounding the general manager search. The Steelers have seemed to do their due diligence by searching outside of the organization, but Chris felt that the internal candidates (Omar Khan and Brandon Hunt) were the two likely successors. Kevin Colbert is the outgoing GM and seemed more open than usual in his chat recently, but Chris believes Rooney will keep things in-house.

The numbers don’t look good in favor of JuJu, who thrived with AB in the offense and has had just one 100-yard game since Brown’s departure.
