John Clayton says it's not worth a roll of the dice to bring Mitch Trubisky to Pittsburgh.

The professor, John Clayton joined the guys to talk about some available QBs this off-season. John talked about the Jimmy G injury that resulted in a recent surgery, Kirk Cousins’ availability, and why Garoppolo compares to Chad Pennington. John said around the league it’s not looking good for teams that need quarterbacks and highlighted Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota as the top two. John made the comparison between Malik Willis and Lamar Jackson and if Willis can get to Jackson’s level. Clayton added what he thinks Kevin Colbert will do going into his final draft. John also had confidence that teams will take Kenny Pickett’s hand size into account.

Kenny Pickett spoke at the NFL Combine today and talked about his meetings with the Steelers. The guys debated if Kenny would be a good or great NFL QB and if it is worth trading up to get him. The also dove into the possibility of JuJu Smith-Schuster leaving via free agency and how that spot gets filled. 

Poni has labeled Matt Corral as the x-factor of the NFL Combine. He related the comments and mindset of Corral to what Kevin Colbert said about JuJu earlier this week, and the mentality he had coming off injury. Jeff brought up the point that Corral did not have a big game against the big boys of the SEC, but found success against the weaker opponents. The discussion then turned to second tier QBs and if they could make the position better for the Steelers.

He mentioned how Trubisky was unfairly pushed into a system right away when he was not ready and was definitely over-drafted in 2017, ahead of names like Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. He said he’s mobile enough to fit the Steelers system, or at least what they want to do with the Matt Canada offense. The big question is if he can learn to read defenses. Hub thinks Trubisky could be the next Ryan Tannehill.

Kyle is looking at the league as a huge opportunity to show what he can do and try leading a team to the championship. Kyle took the guys through the logistics of the whole league taking place in Birmingham is like and some of the rules that the league is trying out, which could impact future NFL rule changes. In the spirit of the NFL Combine, Kyle talked about his experience in Indy. Kyle added that he loves TJ McConnell.

Richie said Kenny Pickett is number one on a lot of lists at the combine and doesn’t think the Steelers will have much of a chance to get him. He also noted that the organization likes next year’s draft class at QB a lot more than this one. Richie mentioned that he is firmly on the Jameis train.
