The classic 1973 film, <a href="https://www.bam.org/film/2024/cinema-restored-the-spook-who-sat-by-the-door">“The Spook Who Sat by the Door,”</a> will return to a big screen this week. The restored version will screen at BAM starting this Friday. We speak to Natiki Hope Pressley, daughter of Sam Greenlee, author of the book the film is based on, as well as Doris Nomathandé “Noma” Dixon, daughter of director Ivan Dixon. ALL OF IT will be both companion for and curator of the myriad culture this city has to offer. In the words of Cristina De Rossi, anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College, London:


"Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things."
