In this episode, we dive into our experiences at the Caltech Tango Festival and the LA Tango Marathon. We talk about the different vibes, dancer levels, and social dynamics at each event. We also touch on our personal anxieties and the unique challenges of dancing with advanced partners.
Plus, we explore how tango can be a haven for the socially awkward, providing a controlled space for connection. Finally, we discuss the competition between events and how music and DJing set the tone.
Many female tango dancers have faced gender bias and discrimination in the tango communities over the past few years. In this episode, Freseda Mae and I discuss how instances of unsolicited feedback and uncomfortable dance experiences led Mae to decide to start leading.
But once she did start leading she faces other challenges of being a dual role dancer. We also talk about the impact of gender bias on women in tango, the power dynamics in the community, and the importance of supporting and empowering female leaders.

Maziar is BACK for another interview, bantering about lessons learned along the way as he continues to live the tango nomad lifestyle. Having known him for many years, I have always wondered how he manages to enjoy himself so much on the dance floor, no matter who he dances with. In this episode, he reveals SOME of his secrets.
Female leaders are on the rise in tango and in this episode I share my perspective on what the next phase of growth looks like for women leading. I also address the criticism that female leaders may not have the same skill set as male leaders.

If you want to succeed in tango, you gotta learn the right stuff. There are plenty of dancers out there who spend years working on their tango and not getting anywhere. Frequently, it has little do with with WHAT they are learning and more with HOW they are learning it.

Cabeceo is not just a set of rules, but a tool that can be adapted to individual styles and situations. At least that’s how Alex and I think about it. In this episode we explore different ways we can practice the cabeceo that can help us connect with other people and get more dances.
Whether it’s wardrobe malfunctions, stepping on partners' feet, or farting, the dance floor is a place where many things can go wrong. (It’s a wonder they don’t go wrong more often!) In this episode Alex and I banter about some of our more memorable ones as well as the cringiest.

Breakups are never easy, especially when you have to keep seeing your ex afterwards. Moving on from a romantic relationship in tango can be difficult and lonely process. In this episode I share some of my own strategies that helped me reconnect with myself and move on without having to give up my dance.
Do you feel stuck in your tango? In this episode I discuss some of the less than obvious factors that might be holding you back. Sometimes it has to do with your technique, other times it’s something that seems completely unrelated to your dance. Ultimately, only you can know what’s going on and this episode will give you some things to consider and ideas to chew on.
