Competitor vs. contemporary is the reframe we're talking about today on the pod with the whole team at Holisticism! It's a triggering topic, and we've all been there where we're not sure if we should call someone in, call them out, have a tough conversation with them, or straight up invoice them for plagiarizing our work!
There's no right answer, and we're here to discuss all perspectives without ignoring the historical and structural systems of oppression that are at play. The systems of white supremacy and patriarchy continue to create false narratives around scarcity, urgency, and competition while stealing from marginalized people, and these all must be considered as part of the conversation when talking about competition. Join us as we discuss and let us know your thoughts on the power of reframing your frenemies as collaborators.
We'd love to hear from you! Text us @ +1 818-699-9735 about your thoughts and feels on competition and collaboration and if you text us a screenshot of your podcast review and we'll send you a special treat🌟

New year, new diet? No, thank you. At Holisticism we're all for goal and intention setting, but so often capitalism and pop-culture aim to convince us that being healthy has a very specific look that frankly, we feel is just BS. Today we're sitting down with Helen Phelen (@helenvphelan) a body neutrality pilates and movement instructor, to shine some light on the darker sides of the diet and goal-setting discourse that is spamming our inbox at this time of the year. Michelle and Helen discuss their shared backgrounds growing up as dancers and their experiences with disordered eating habits, as well as the toxic and insidious belief in society that equates thinness with health.
Helen Phelan is a pilates and movement instructor who believes that body neutral, high sensation, breath centric, muscle quivering movement strengthens the body, enhances intuition, and cultivates self-compassion. Helen Phelan Studio delivers all the meditative, vitalizing, and restorative physicality you need without any of the body shaming of the traditional fitness experience. You can also find her @helenvphelen for more inspiration on fine-tuning your intuitive exercise habits and learning to love and appreciate your body and its needs.
We'd love to hear from you! Text us @ +1 818-699-9735 about your thoughts and feels on diet and exercise culture, and if you text us a screenshot of your podcast review and we'll send you a special treat🌟

Raise your hand if you're kind of afraid of your own shadow? Ain't we all sometimes?! At Holisticism we must admit that we love to get our hands dirty in shadow work. It's not always easy, but definitely worth its weight in subconscious gold. In today's episode Michelle, Wallis, and Janelle talk about all things shadow work and how to find the gems that sometimes lay dormant in the depths of our subconscious (where our shadow loves to hide!). We touch on the origins of shadow work (in the West), how our shadows show up in our intimate relationships, six rules for doing shadow work, and some of our favorite exercises.
We'd love to hear about your experiences with your own shadow work! Text us @ +1 818-699-9735 with your thoughts + if you text us a screenshot of your podcast review and we'll send you a special treat🌟

Can using a sliding-scale model in your business help you practice abundance? We think so, and that's why we decided to try it. Joining Michelle on the pod today is Thais Francis (she/her/king), our Head Of Member Success. At the beginning of 2020, we embarked on an experiment to open up our private member's community, The North Node, to a sliding scale model. Thais and Michelle meditate on this decision, its challenges and successes, and what Holisticism's sliding scale model will look like in 2021. Join the convo as we aim to practice what we teach, and flow abundantly into the new year.
