Zach Tuohy’s story is remarkable with his upbringing in Ireland, background in Gaelic Football and the switch to AFL premiership star. Zach opens up about some of the initial difficulties adjusting to the AFL and how playing with the likes of Chris Judd enabled his game understanding to blossom so quickly. Zach’s breakdown of Geelong, its culture and its elite level players was unmatched in this episode as he had the joy of winning a premiership with the cats. Adam Cooney joins us for one of the funnier shows of the year as we discuss the career of the only #1 draft pick to win a Brownlow medal in the AFL's history. Western Bulldogs took the talented 18-year-old from West Adelaide in 2003 who had a burst of speed and an eye for goal and would go on to play 250 games in the AFL including a short period at Essendon. Clayton Oliver joins the show for what is a rare interview and conversation. This episode I felt showcased a guy that has been one of the elite midfielders in the competition from his inception in the AFL and has experienced it all from the good, bad and indifferent. Clayton has had nine years in the competition and for six of those seasons he has averaged 30 disposals a game, won four best 'n' fairest awards at Melbourne, three All Australian selections and a Premiership across his tenure. In this episode we shine a light on Clayton being a human being dealing with extreme pressure's, his upbringing and his time in the AFL that no doubt has provided a generational midfield for the Melbourne footy club. We hope this interview shines a light on the person we don't always get to see via mainstream media. Through adversity I do admire Clayton for the fact he never gives up, works hard and gives his best for his footy club when fit and healthy. Jack ‘Pharjack’ Jenkins is back on the show and fresh after his dominant performance at UFC 305 in Perth. Let’s just Jack has had a big 12 months, after an upset defeat in Sydney this man went back to the gym in silence and sharpened every tool he had. Pharjack did an eighteen-week fight camp in preparation for this fight across 3 x 6-week blocks. It was relentless, tough but this man glided through it with a performance that followed. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan's story needs to be heard and this was opened on this podcast like it has never been before. I'd argue that Dan McStay's last 12 months have been the hardest out of any individual AFL Footballer in terms of setbacks. Dan did his MCL right before Collingwood's Grand Final win forcing him to miss the big dance along with an ACL rupture day 2 of this year's pre season. This is why this episode was truly remarkable when you listen to Dan's attitude and mindset, it's no wonder why he came back early and looked like he never left. We break down in this episode his trade from Brisbane which after 8 seasons was no small decision along with the experience, he has with playing with some of the best midfielders of the modern game. Dan speaks through the coaching styles of Chris Fagan and Craig McRae which was just incredible insight to two of the best in the game. Brodie Holland is a former AFL player for both Collingwood and Fremantle Football Club. Brodie has a really smart footy brain which I loved picking apart throughout this episode particularly around the areas of the game that have changed from the early 2000s up until now. We dived into the unpredictable AFL season 2024 which Brodie breaks down a few of the top teams along with his beloved Collingwood. It is hard to argue that Brodie played in an era in the AFL where some of the greatest midfields had existed which prompted so much discussion about his experiences where he just fell short of a Grand Final win. He chased the best players every week and was challenged with becoming the fittest player at Collingwood. Brodie's insights and breakdowns throughout this episode are just super interesting and he holds just a great outlook on footy.
