Say you have a friend and that friend always breaks their promises to you. Will you remain friends with that person for very long? Hopefully not! Now, imagine that you are your own friend. If you make promises to yourself and you don't follow through and/or break those promises, will you be friends with yourself? Nope! So many of us live with this internal battle in our own minds and hearts. Keep your promises to yourself and you will develop strong self-esteem. This is SO important.

Takeaways from this episode:
Practice positive self-talk. Reinforce it with compliments from your words.
Give hearty praise. Lots of praise.
Encourage talents and skills, let your kids shine in their passions.
Teach your kids to respect themselves and treat their bodies and minds as sacred.

Patience is a lost art form. Our culture wants everything NOW. This is not a realistic way to live. We need to practice patience if we want to live in accordance with nature and God. We need to practice patience if we want to receive the fullness and true gifts that life has to offer.

Life is not a sprint. Enjoy the small, daily tasks.
Teach understanding that the great things in life take time. Greatness comes from slow progress.
Practice mindfulness for yourself, let your children see your stoic strength.

Our spare time is valuable. It's an opportunity for much-needed recreation, connection, growth, etc. But when we have children we need to reevaluate how we spend our spare time. Our kids are only kids for so long, then they grow up and move out and have their own lives. View the spare time you have with them as sacred and make them a focal point of how to spend your downtime.

The only guarantee in life is that everything will change. There's no way around it. This makes people uncomfortable. But, what if you tackled change head-on and got good at changing and evolving? When you embrace discomfort you begin to build resiliency towards change. You start to look forward to change and the new challenges that are presented to you in life.
