You MUST show respect for the other parent, no matter how difficult it may be. Your children need to see a healthy relationship between their parents, no matter what their parents' situation may be.

We've heard the saying, "Half the battle is just showing up." Well, the other half of the battle is equally as important. Being present with your kids is extremely important. Make sure that when you're "there" you're really "there", mind, body, and spirit. Your kids need you. All of you.

What is our society missing? We could list many things here, but one that stands out is quality bonding time. We all have to eat on a daily basis, so why not make that an opportunity to sit down and get closer to one another? Families that eat together grow together. Be aware of these opportunities to connect.

You can't help anyone if you don't help yourself first. Make sure you are the best that you can be. Spending time working on YOU is a key ingredient in being able to help others. Build your self-confidence, self-respect, and self-esteem.

As a parent, you have authority over your children. But, take a moment to ask yourself, "Is who I am worth at damn?" Are your lessons, corrections, teachings, wisdom, guidance, etc. helping your children? How can you grow into a better version of yourself? How can you find guidance from mentors and teachers? Earn your right to be heard by living a life of constant development and improvement.

Be aware of the way you speak and act throughout the day with your kids.
Be worth a damn and give your kids behavior they can look up to.
Don’t fall into the “do as I say, not as I do” trap of parenting.

To be mindful of the truth and beauty of life is of utmost importance. To be mindful of your thoughts and mental patterns is of the utmost importance. Mindful prayer and gratitude to the creator of our lives and our world is of the utmost importance. The sooner you start your daily mindfulness practice and begin your kids on theirs the better off you all will be.

Pick up a habit of meditation/prayer and let your kids see you in this practice.
Work mindfulness into their lives with apps like headspace.
Take walks in scenic places, talk about surroundings, point out the beauty in nature.

The most precious commodity in life is Time. We can't get it back, and we tend to treat it like we'll never run out of it. It's very important to keep your attention on how you spend your time, and how you are wasting it. When your children are young the time you spend with them means everything to them, and if you focus your awareness correctly you'll realize how that time means everything to you.

Are you present when spending time with your children, or are you lost in your own head?
Track how much time you spend quality time with your kids daily/weekly.
Notice the difference in your kids when your aware and present with them.
Spend time in meditation focusing your awareness on love.

Have you ever had that suffocating feeling when you're not being able to express your true self? Some of us have lived our entire lives that way. When the people around you (the people who matter to you the most) don't accept you for you, it can be incredibly damaging to your self-image. Give yourself, and your children, this incredible freedom and support individuality and personal exploration.
Takeaways from this episode:
Embrace the obvious natural character traits of your children.
Support and encourage their unique quirks, especially ones that you don’t share.
Practice remembering that they are unique and don’t need to be like you.
Instead of correcting or suggesting what you want, join in on their fun. Live in their world. It’s so much fun.
Especially at young ages, let them dress up, make-believe, live in fantasy. Do not crush imagination.

We all know how good it feels to have someone truly give us their attention, and we all know how truly hurtful it feels to have someone we care about not give us their undivided attention. Give your kids the gift of your full attention.

Get off your damn phone. Your memory is the picture.
Spend time just staring, admiring your children. Adore them. Remember it.

How can you tell who your real friends are? They are the ones who will tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear. Tough love is missing from much of our culture, especially in our relationships with our children. Love is doing what is right, not what is easy. This can be a hard pill to swallow, but so valuable.
Takeaways from this episode:
Tough love is important love. Don’t skip out on opportunities for important truths.
Lay ground rules for right and wrong. Don’t be wishy-washy when good morals are not practiced.
Don’t go back on your word. This confuses and sets kids back.
