Brian Larrabee leads Good City Mentors and is considered a leader in building strategic community partnerships for social good. In 2014, after meeting students from a continuation high school in south Los Angeles, he brought in 35 inspiring friends and began what is now Good City Mentors. Today, Good City Mentors has over 300 mentors, and has seen graduation rates triple since their inception. Good City Mentors was awarded as one of LA’s top emerging nonprofits for 2018 and is recognized as a leader in high school based mentoring.   Brian attended Southern New Hampshire University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the Business Student of the Year. Now with his degree in emerging media and communication, he has been in the creative industry full time for 7 years working in various positions and projects like Instagram Is, a documentary, Socality, a creative community, and Able Creative House, a creative agency. 

His mission is to create a culture of healthy and meaningful connection. He does that by teaching the value of disconnection and solitude and by creating environments that foster relationship.

BC Serna has spent the last 10 years traveling the world sharing stories of good and highlighting non profit organizations through film and social media. He’s also worked closely with high school organizations teaching students how to become heart led leaders in their communities. He spent 5 years as a younglife leader in Denver Colorado. 

In this interview, BC shares about the experiences of 10 years spent traveling the world along with the tradeoffs that come with it. He dives into why it’s so important to move from passion to purpose, and why life is centered around authentic relationships and community. He gives perspective on storytelling and film, as well as the unique ways his personality influences his decisions and the life he has lived.

Tyler Joel Wilson grew up in Santa Barbara, California as the oldest of four siblings.  At a young age, Tyler was diagnosed with dyslexia, leading his family to travel around California and Hawaii to best support his development. Being born into an entrepreneurial family, Tyler began his first business at the age of five, selling his Grandpa’s oranges on the street corner, making up to $100 a day. As a high schooler, at age 15, Tyler began his first real business - Turtle’s Frozen Drinks, renting out margarita blenders for private parties throughout the Santa Barbara area.     Through his athletic accomplishments in both water polo and swimming, Tyler was accepted to the University of Southern California.After finding a way to enroll in USC’s Business School, Tyler left USC four years later with no degree, but having a business education that would allow him to push forward his professional goals.     In 2008, at 22 years old, Tyler co-founded and opened Wurstküche in downtown Los Angeles with his cousin, Joseph Pitruzzelli. Selling exotic gourmet sausages paired with Belgium and German beers, Wurstküchequickly established itself as one of the top restaurant destinations in the city. Tyler and Joseph opened a second location in Venice, CA in 2011.     Now, Tyler regularly speaks on entrepreneurship across the country, including on the USC campus to both undergrad and graduate students.
