In this week's episode, our host Jonathan Aymin sits down Amanda Peoples owner of Walnut Hill Wedding Venue to discuss what it was like turning her childhood family home into a wedding destination, how she has changed her advertising strategy over time as they grew in business, and how she juggles family time and working full time at the venue with her husband.

About Our Guest:

Amanda Peoples has a background in luxury customer service from her years working at some of Raleigh's landmark businesses such as The Umstead and Bailey's Fine Jewelry. She then moved to the events industry working with Party Reflections before opening Walnut Hill.

Walnut Hill was once Amanda’s childhood playground. The barns were her play houses, the chicken coup was the best hiding place, and the lake was where she perfected her swimming skills. As she grew up this piece of land was where she would go to get away from the world and find peace.

In 2019, they began hosting weddings at the family estate. When this all began she thought they would do a few weddings a year and it would be a small part time job while she stayed home with her children. Well she never could have imagined how they would grow! Walnut Hill is now not only a full time project for Amanda, but her husband Scott joined the company in 2022!

In this week's episode, our host Jonathan Aymin sits down with Helen Christopher owner of Brookledge Venue to discuss how she sold her home to purchase her 60 acre venue, how she and her family moved on site and are currently in the process of renovating the buildings and restoring the land, and her long term goal of being a summer camp event destination for wedding couples and their families!

About Our Guest:

Helen Christopher, a previous elementary school teacher, fell in love with the Bookledge property when she and her family attended a wedding there 7 years ago. They purchased the 60 acre property in 2021 and she and her family moved on property and have been restoring and renovating the venue and buildings to their original glory.

Brookledge is New York's newest summer camp venue! At Brookledge you will find cabins that guests can rent, spaces for private events and glamping tents. Brookledge was once a Girls Camp called Girls Inc. They still have many buildings, pavilions, bathhouses and trails from the original camp. Brookledge’s history dates back to the 1800s! In the 1800’s German families from New York City owned the property and built cabins on the property as a vacation getaway. The buildings no longer remain, but you can find the remains of a stone fireplace at the Camp Chapel.

The property is currently being renovated and they are finishing The Treehouse Lodge. It will be an indoor treehouse and a ceiling filled with glass stars. It will be for lodging, small events and a space for brides to get ready in.

A former film executive, David uses his organizational skills gained in the film industry and his “service” mentality to simplify the wedding planning process to ensure that the wedding is the positive, life starting event that it should be.  

About Our Guest:   David Carde is a former entertainment industry executive on a mission to transform the wedding industry. After seeing people struggle with the process of finding the right vendors for their weddings, David decided to start his own company & founded WeddinClub. WeddinClub’s mission is connecting vendors to couples simply & easily.  

In his movie career, David was an executive on numerous films – Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts, Safe Haven with Julianne Hough, The Family with Robert De Niro, Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale, and House At The End Of The Street with Jennifer Lawrence. Having grown up in a family with multiple members who served in the Navy, the film he is most proud of working on is Act of Valor, which is about the SEAL Teams.  

David is also a Christian and his “service” mentality toward doing business informs both the mission of WeddinClub & how David lives his life. He lives in Los Angeles & loves spending time with his family, trading stocks and watching mixed martial arts.

Alex Garia is the owner of AG Outdoor Venue in Tomball TX, a city right outside  of the Houston metropolitan area. He was able to build an audience on Facebook and pre-sell wedding dates in just a few short weeks before the venue was even open. He attributes this success to being able to focus all of his marketing efforts to one platform and to attract his ideal client through branding and marketing.

With his background as a lawyer in Mexico, he was able to leverage some of the tools he learned during his studies before moving to the United States to pursue entrepreneurship. His drive and passion around business, sales and legacy has helped him get to where he is today!
