5am – A/B/C ‘It feels like a big tailgate party’: Trump supporters line up days in advance of Dallas rally. (Dallas News) - By the time President Donald Trump speaks in Dallas on Thursday night, dozens of supporters will have waited in line to see him for more than 50 hours. They say it’s all worth it to see the president speak at a Keep America Great Again campaign rally — Trump’s first rally in Dallas as president. Trump is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at American Airlines Center. “We love America. We love our president, and we want to show our support,” said Cindy McCann, 40, of Bedford. McCann and her daughter, Jessica, 11, arrived outside the venue around 8 p.m. Tuesday, and they don’t plan to leave until they’ve seen the president speak. “We’re not going anywhere,” McCann said.
5am – D         US says Turkey agrees to a ceasefire in Syria. (CNN) -  Trump touts "unconventional" Turkey deal: "Sometimes you have to let them fight." President Trump thanked Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for traveling to meet with President Erdogan in Turkey, casting the ceasefire as an example of his great dealmaking during a rally in Dallas tonight.  Trump said that what he did in the region was "unconventional." "Sometimes you have to let them fight a little while… right? Sometimes you have to let them fight. It's like two kids in a lot, you got to let them fought and then you pull them apart," Trump said of the conflict.  Some background: As CNN reported earlier tonight, the deal appears to secure Turkey most of its military objectives, forcing America's one-time allies in the fight against ISIS— Kurdish forces—to cede a vast swath of territory, with one senior US official very familiar with operations in Syria telling CNN that the deal meant the US was "validating what Turkey did and allowing them to annex a portion of Syria and displace the Kurdish population."
5am – E         El Chapo: Mexican police capture then release drug boss's son after battle with cartel. (The Guardian) - Security minister says decision not to detain Ovidio Guzmán López was made to protect citizens, after heavy gunfire. Intense fighting has erupted in the Mexican city of Culiacán, where masked gunmen threw up burning barricades and traded gunfire with security forces after authorities arrested one of the sons of the jailed former leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Mexico’s security minister, Alfonso Durazo, said a patrol by National Guard militarised police first came under attack from within a house in the city, 600 km (370 miles) northwest of Mexico City. After entering the house, they arrested Ovidio Guzmán López, who is accused of drug trafficking in the United States. However, the patrol was quickly overpowered by cartel gunmen, and the decision was taken to withdraw to protect the lives of the National Guard and restore calm in the city, where gangsters had set up roadblocks and were unleashing heavy automatic gunfire, Durazo said. Images shared on social media showed trucks with mounted heavy machine guns patrolling the city streets. Another clip showed a gunman with an assault rifle shooting at an unknown target against a soundtrack of continuous gunfire.

    6am – A/B/C             DORAL / MULVANEY:
Trump's Doral resort to host next G-7 summit, as White House defends choice. After months of speculation, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney announced on Thursday that next year’s G-7 meeting will be held at President Trump’s resort in Doral, Florida between June 10 and 12. The decision to hold the G-7 meeting at the Trump National Doral Golf Club had been bandied about for months -- since Trump made a pitch to have next year’s summit at the resort during August’s G-7 conference in France – and has created controversy amid concerns over the ethics of the president personally profiting off an official government event.
Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told reporters Thursday that President Trump did block military aid to Ukraine, in part, to force the government in Kiev to secure a politically motivated investigation of Democrats. Mulvaney walked back the remarks in a statement however, accusing the media of "misconstruing" his earlier remarks "to advance a biased and political witch hunt against President Trump."
6am – D         84 yo MAN HAS GUNS CONFISCATED & LOSES JOB OVER SNIPPET OF CONVO OVERHEARD BY A WAITRESS: Stephen Nichols, 84, said he was fired from his job as a Tisbury crossing guard for an alleged "threat." He says his comments were misinterpreted. - Rich Saltzberg. A Tisbury School crossing guard has been relieved of duty and had his personal firearms confiscated for alleged threats to the Tisbury School overheard by a waitress at Linda Jean’s restaurant in Oak Bluffs.  Stephen Nichols, 84, of Tisbury, who said his career with the Tisbury Police spanned six decades and who served in the United States Army during the Korean War, told The Times he made no threats to the school, but had criticized its school resource officer in a conversation with a friend. He said the conversation was taken out of context.  Dan Larkosh, of the Edgartown firm Larkosh and Jackson, represents Nichols, and said he intends to file an appeal of the decision by Tisbury Police Chief Mark Saloio to seize guns owned by Nichols, as well as his license to carry. Saloio declined to comment when approached at the Tisbury Police Station. He later told The Times, “There’s nothing that I can legally discuss about the matter. Period.” The police department has also refused to release the police report from the investigation citing the “personnel” exemption of the public records law. No criminal charges were filed against Nichols.
6am – E         Dennis Rodman on NBA-China fallout: 'Politics with sports, it doesn't mix' (Fox News) - Retired basketball star Dennis Rodman discussed the NBA's stance toward China in the wake of controversy over the league's response to pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. Rodman told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Thursday that politics and sports should be kept separate. "I just look at it -- I think the NBA is a great sport around the world," he said. "NBA players have an obligation to do one thing -- it's to play sports. I think when you put politics with sports, it doesn't mix."
6am – F         Alec Baldwin will be in Chesterfield, Fredericksburg and Fairfax next week to canvass for Democratic candidates. (Richmond.com) - Alec Baldwin, the actor known for roles in TV's "30 Rock" and movies such as "The Hunt for Red October" and "The Departed," will be in Virginia on Oct. 22 to canvass for Democratic Virginia candidates. Baldwin is on the board of People For the American Way and will "visit three campaign locations and will take part in activities including door-knocking for candidates and greeting volunteers," according to a news release. He will be supporting candidates endorsed by People For the American Way's Next Up Victory Fund, a fund from the progressive advocacy group set up to support progressive candidates in local and state elections. "His visit comes as Virginia prepares for pivotal state legislative elections that could flip the General Assembly to Democratic control, solidifying a major political shift in this once deep-red state. The state races are also seen as a warm-up for the 2020 elections and a gauge of voters' views of the Trump administration," according to a news release from People For the American Way. Baldwin will be in Chesterfield County to support Amanda Pohl, candidate for Virginia Senate District 11; Fredericksburg for Joshua Cole, candidate for Virginia House District 28, and Qasim Rashid, candidate for Virginia Senate District 28; and Fairfax County for Dan Helmer, candidate for Virginia House District 40. The Next Up Victory Fund has endorsed 40 candidates in Virginia ahead of this year's legislative races.

Responding to the president’s tweet showing the large crowds waiting to get in to his Dallas rally, Arnold invoked former President John F. Kennedy, saying, “Don’t get too cocky traitor. 8am – D/E     INTERVIEW - GREGG JARRETT - author of Witch Hunt: The Story of the Greatest Mass Delusion in American Political History"
ABOUT BOOK: How did a small group of powerful intelligence officials convince tens of millions of Americans that the president is a traitor, without a shred of evidence? In Witch Hunt¸ Gregg Jarrett uncovers the bureaucratic malfeasance and malicious politicization of our country’s justice system. The law was weaponized for partisan purposes. Even though it was Hillary Clinton’s campaign that collected and disseminated a trove of lies about Trump from a former British spy and Russian operatives, Democrats and the media spun this into a claim that Trump was working for the Russians. Senior officials at the FBI, blinded by their political bias and hatred of Trump, went after the wrong person. At the DOJ, the deputy attorney general discussed secretly recording the president and recruiting members of the cabinet to depose Trump. Those behind the Witch Hunt have either been fired or resigned.  Many of them are now under investigation for abuse of power. But what about the pundits who concocted wild narratives in real time on television, or the newspapers which covered the fact that rumors were being investigated without investigating the facts themselves? Factual, highly persuasive, and damning, this must-read expose makes clear that not only was there no “collusion,” but there was not even a basis for Mueller’s investigation of the charge that has attacked Trump and his administration for more than two years. It’s always been a Witch Hunt.

    6am – A         2020 NEWS:
Biden campaign burning through funds at rate tough to sustain. Joe Biden's campaign burn rate is one of the highest of any top-tier presidential primary candidate since 2008, in July through September spending 12.1% more than it took in and more than 30% higher than his chief rivals, such as Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, according to data analyzed by the Washington Examiner. In the third quarter of 2019, covering July through September, Biden's campaign raised $15.7 million and spent $17.6 million. The only candidate with a higher spending deficit was California Sen. Kamala Harris, who raised $11.8 million and spent $14.5 million, a 122.9% burn rate. Among Biden's most costly expenditures, aside from staffing, was the use of private jets, which ran him $924,000. Biden also spent over $230,000 on "fundraising consultants" and tens of thousands of dollars on ritzy hotels such as the Carlyle Hotel in New York City. At the end of September, Biden's campaign had $8.98 million cash on hand, compared to Sanders, the Vermont senator who sits on $33.7 million, Massachusetts Sen. Warren at $25.7 million, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg at $23.4 million, and Harris at $10.5 million. Biden's campaign dismissed concerns that its spending was unsustainable after Tuesday night's Democratic debate in Ohio.

6am – B/C     Gender studies professor suggests President Trump is to blame for obese black women. 'I hate when people talk about black women being obese' President Donald Trump's policies and racism are responsible for overweight black women, Brittney Cooper, a Rutgers University women's and gender studies professor, suggested last month. "I hate when people talk about black women being obese. I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn't create," Cooper said. "We are living in the Trump era. And look, those policies kill our people. You can't get access to good health care, good insurance." Cooper also claimed that white women have an advantage when shredding unwanted pounds because black women are more stressed because of Trump. "It's literally that the racism that you're experiencing and the struggle to make ends meet actually means the diet don't work for you the same," Cooper claimed.

6am – F         Obama endorses Trudeau for reelection ahead of Canadian vote. (CNN)Former President Barack Obama on Wednesday tweeted his support for Justin Trudeau, urging Canadians to reelect their Prime Minister in Monday's federal election. "I was proud to work with Justin Trudeau as President," Obama tweeted. "He's a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change." He continued, "The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbors to the north support him for another term." Obama's support continues the pair's friendship from when the former US president sat in the Oval Office. It comes as Trudeau runs a competitive race against Conservative leader Andrew Scheer and in the aftermath of Trudeau's recent blackface controversy. Last month, Time magazine surfaced photos of Trudeau wearing brownface when he was a schoolteacher in 2001. In his apology, Trudeau admitted he had put on dark makeup when he was in high school as part of a talent show in which he sang the traditional Jamaican folk song "Day-O." CNN partner CTV News later obtained that second photo from a source, who said it is a picture of Trudeau in a yearbook at Brebeuf College. A video shows a third instance of Trudeau wearing dark makeup, this time in the early 1990s.

7am – E         'South Park' episode mocks LeBron James over China comments. The producers of South Park stirred controversy involving China for a third week on Wednesday. In " Let Them Eat Goo", the episode mocked NBA superstar LeBron James and the comments he made about the conflict between China and the NBA. In Wednesday's episode, the lunches at South Park Elementary School are switched with healthier options after some students complain, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cartman becomes irate over the change and goes off on another student who is in favor of healthier lunches and says they have the freedom of speech and can protest. Carman then yells, "Yes, we do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you are not thinking about others and only thinking about yourself!." That was the quote James gave about Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, who tweeted his support for protesters in Hong Kong. James was heavily criticized for seemingly siding with the league. Cartman mocked James by doing a dance about "Taco Tuesday," which James has been known to do on his social media pages. South Park episodes were banned in China two weeks ago over comments made on the series.

8am – E         Millennials with old souls splash out on ‘grandma chic’ homes. (NY Post) -- Meet the millennials who prefer a nostalgic design aesthetic inspired by the quirky comfort of their grandparents’ homes and the opulence of bygone eras. Some call it grandma chic, others label it forward-thinking traditionalism and another set dubs it preppy eclecticism. But devotees of the style have been nicknamed “grandmillennials” — a portmanteau of grandma and millennials — according to a September House Beautiful article. “Millennials are connecting with a style that used to be confined to shelter magazines. They’re putting their spin on traditional design,” says Manhattan-based interior designer Ariel Okin, who interpreted the look in actress Lena Dunham’s West Village rental for Domino’s fall cover. “These spaces are pretty, cozy and evoke a sense of home. The personality of the owners shines through.” Inspired by her mother’s romantic, tchotchke-driven approach to decor, Dunham, 33, told Domino she sought out Okin to do the same thing: “Arrange the things I’ve accumulated in an inventive and loving way. … The towels have my initials and the pillows bear embroidery of my cats.” Sisters Daria and Deanna DeChirico embraced the grandmillennial aesthetic when remodeling the 700-square-foot Sutton Place co-op they bought together. The 32- and 28-year-old siblings from Colts Neck, NJ, who both work in finance, called on Sweeten, a free service that matches homeowners with contractors, to transform an awkwardly laid-out space into an airy two-bedroom with a shared walk-in closet. Designing it themselves, they spent about $150,000 on renovations and decor. In a style they call “early American,” they jazzed up a storage closet with custom mirrored, latticed French doors, painted the walls hunter green and navy blue, lined rooms with floral wallpaper and curtains, and displayed their grandmother’s classic blue-and-white porcelain Chinoiserie throughout. “We grew up in a house fully decorated with wallpaper, décor and painted walls,” says Daria. “I love the term grandmillennial. [Deanna and I] act like 90-year-olds in a lot of ways.” Siblings Deanna and Daria DeChirico embrace their inner nonagenarians with floral patterns and polo mallets, but keep things fresh with a green subway tile kitchen backsplash. In many ways, experts say, the movement is a response to the pervasiveness of stark minimalism and midcentury-modern furnishings.
