(No it’s not the Nelly song- or is it?): self awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy & social skills. We discuss it's value, how it applies to our lives, in romantic relationships and more. • Ep. 175 Our Story (AAPI Heritage Month Episode) ft. Allan Aquino
Happy Asian American Pacific Heritage Month! That is also the topic of our episode today and I have returning guest CSUN Asian American Studies Professor: Allan Aquino as a guest. Allan breaks down What is AAPI Heritage month, how it came about & why it falls on the month of May. This month celebrates the achievements and acknowledgement of AAPI’s- so we decided to give a history lesson to show how far we have come. This episode is a condensed crash course on the history of Asian Americans. Due to time constraints we were only able to discuss five large waves of AAPI groups that emigrated to the US: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian & South East Asian & reasons why they came to the US. Allan talking about the history makes me feel like I’m back in CSUN. Speaking of which its been 6 years this month since I graduated with a degree in Asian American Studies. It’s a honor to give back and have OG’s like Allan to drop some knowledge on my platform which was inspired by courses & the lessons about community in Asian American Studies. Thank you & hope you enjoy this one!

  • Ep. 169 Journey So Far Part IV ft. Von
This one gets deep. Titanic deep. For me at least. I rant about my experience with working the 4th Step “We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.” This involves writing an inventory of resentments, fears & wrongdoings I have as far back as I can remember. I dreaded this step before I even started working a program. I think I was afraid of being accountable & what is buried in my subconscious. The type shxt that I wanted to forget by using and drinking. The purpose is to bring light to these memories, see how it affected me and my part in it. The more positive part of this step is writing one paragraph for each redeeming quality I have. I also talk about how I feel before writing out this inventory, during, after, what I learned and more.

Starting off the week with a throwback episode ft. the homie tattoo artist Paul “Nacho” Lebre. He has done a handful of my tattoos over the years. I didn’t end up going to OC to finish my pineapple pizza tattoo last week BUT I got a traditional swallow tattoo from Chris at One Truth Tattoo. In my rant I talk about my travel situation during the big storm in LA, why writing down your accomplishments/ achievements is important & more!

Paul Libre aka Nacho is a tattoo artist at One Truth Tattoo in Northridge CA. Growing up drawing playing hockey, surfing, riding bmx and skateboarding eventually lead him to becoming a tattoo artist. Paul recalls his days as an apprentice, becoming a tattoo artist, and other topics related to tattoos. If you're into tattoos this episode may be for you!
