Welcome back to the kitchen table! Today, Bethany is sharing another word picture to help you have gospel conversations with your little ones. This time, we’re talking about water.
Think about when you wash your hands or take a bath. Water cleans the dirt off, just like Jesus washes away our sins. 1 John 1:7 tells us that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin, and Titus 3:5-6 reminds us that it’s not by anything we do, but by His mercy that we are washed and renewed.
As your child grows to know Jesus as their Savior, they will start to see the places where they fall short. Just like water cleans our hands, Jesus cleans our hearts.
So next time your little one washes their hands, remind them: Jesus washes our hearts, just like water washes our hands.

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Today, Bethany continues the conversation on using word pictures to share the gospel with your little ones. Our focus today? The mirror.
Think about when you walk into the bathroom and look into the mirror. With the light on, you clearly see your reflection—the mirror shows everything, even the dirt on your face. Romans 3:20 reminds us that, just like a mirror shows our physical dirt, the law shows us our sin.
As parents, we often feel like we’re constantly correcting our children. But here's a shift: our rules are like mirrors. They don’t change behavior, but they highlight our kids’ need for Jesus. Romans 7:7 explains that the law points out our sin, showing us our need for a Savior.
Next time you step into a bathroom, remember—the reflection is just the start. It shows us where we are, but Jesus is the one who cleanses us.

Welcome back to the kitchen table! Teaching our little ones about God can feel challenging, but today Bethany shares a word picture that can help make it clear. Imagine walking into a dark bathroom. The first thing we do is turn on the light so we can see where we are. Without that light, we’re stuck in the dark.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.” Just like we need light in the bathroom to see, we need Jesus to guide us through life. When we step into a relationship with him, we leave the darkness behind and step into his light.
Once the light is on, everything becomes clear. Jesus is the light that helps us see the way forward, and with him, we’ll never be lost in the dark again.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. There are whispers all around us—subtle, quiet conversations that can leave us feeling excluded or unseen. Whether it’s in social circles, at work, or even within family dynamics, exclusion has a way of sneaking in and settling deep within our hearts.
We’ve all been there. Maybe it was as a child, watching others bond while you stood on the sidelines, or perhaps it’s as an adult, hearing of plans made without you. Exclusion stings, and whispers of it can linger long after the moment has passed.
But even in those moments, there's beauty to be found. A truth that outlasts every whisper, every feeling of being left out. The Lord offers something the world never can—an invitation to belong fully, without conditions.
“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.” (Psalm 25:14)
You are never overlooked by him. He sees you, chooses you, and calls you friend. In a world filled with whispers of exclusion, his voice speaks louder, offering a place where you are always welcome.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. We’ve all heard it—“But mom, you promised...” Sometimes, what feels like a simple yes becomes something we can't always make happen. Our promises can fall short, but God’s never do.
In 2 Corinthians 1:20, we’re reminded that “all of God’s promises are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” Unlike us, God never fails to keep his word.
When we feel like we’ve missed the mark, we can look to God’s promises, which never change. He invites us to trust Him and lay our hopes at his feet, knowing his promises are always sure. Where we struggle, God’s promises remain strong, guiding us in our daily lives.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Mamas, we’ve tended to have many skinned knees. The moment our child is hurt, we scoop them up, bend over them, and do everything we can to make it better. We offer comfort and care without hesitation.
Psalm 116:1-2 reminds us of this same truth. Just as we tend to our children when they are hurting, God tends to us when we are wounded. He hears our cries, even when we struggle to believe it.
You might feel like he hasn’t heard your prayers or your pain, but bring it to him. Stand in your hurt, knowing he is surrounding you. Just as we tenderly care for a scraped knee, God is tending to your heart—healing, comforting, and drawing near.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. There are moments in life when we feel completely overwhelmed. The unknowns feel heavy, and the fear of what's ahead can be paralyzing. As parents, we often reach for our child's hand in those uncertain times, offering them comfort and safety. It’s in that same way that God reaches for us.
Isaiah 41:10 reminds us of His promise: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.” Even when life feels scary, God is leading us forward, walking beside us as our refuge and strength.
When the world feels overwhelming, remember—just as you are a refuge for your child, God is with you, guiding you every step of the way. Let Him be your safe place, just as you are for them.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany shares a story about her daughter, who was determined to get dressed on her own, even though she struggled. Like many of us, she wanted to be independent, resisting help. But Bethany gently reminded her that it’s okay to ask for help and surrender when things get hard.
Psalm 103:13-14 says, “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” God meets us with compassion, especially in those moments when we try to be independent, struggling on our own.
God’s heart is filled with compassion, always ready to help, reminding us that we don’t have to do it all on our own. Just like a parent gently helping their child, he’s there, waiting for us to surrender and let him step in.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany shares a story about her child who always needed the answers before starting a book. He struggled to enjoy the story, impatiently wanting to know how it ended. Often, we’re the same—wanting clarity in life right away, unable to rest in the uncertainty.
Psalm 119:30 reminds us, “The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” God graciously promises that as life unfolds, he will provide light and understanding. But rather than giving us all the answers at once, his grace invites us to rest in him, trusting his wisdom and timing.
Resting in God’s graciousness allows us to embrace the process, knowing that even in the waiting, He’s working all things together for good.

Welcome back to the kitchen table. We give so much attention to our to-do lists, our children, and the demands of daily life. But attention is the beginning of devotion. Where we place our attention, devotion follows.
In the everyday moments of motherhood—when we’re folding laundry, driving to activities, or calming tantrums—there’s a profound opportunity to come face-to-face with God. Jesus and Paul both remind us that we can find God’s presence in everything.
Matthew 28:20 tells us that he is always with us, and Colossians 3 urges us to set our hearts on things above. If we change our perspective, we’ll begin to see his presence in the midst of our daily tasks. This shift in attention will deepen our devotion.
