The Washington Capitals beat the Florida Panthers team tonight by a score of 4-2. Led by goal scoring from Evgeny Kuznetsov, T.J. Oshie, Tom Wilson and Lars Eller. The Capitals also got great goaltending from Vitek Vanecek who stopped 30 of 32 shots.

Anthony Mantha led the Capitals with 10 hits in Game 1. Mantha's 10 hits are tied for the fifth-highest recorded total in a playoff game in franchise history (the NHL began tracking hits in the 2005-06 season).

The Capitals improve to 30-21 in Game 1s in franchise history and 10-9 in Game 1s played on the road.

Laviolette didn't say exactly when it happened, only thing I can remember in the game before Wilson left was when he tried to hit Weegar, but instead took the brunt of the hit on the boards.
