On a quick trip back to the mountain state Anoa managed to catch a rally led by organizers and activists pushing for fully funded benefits through PEIA. Last spring we were captivated by the teacher led movement fighting back against the careless disregard of many who sit under the gold dome. This fight has continued and will continue through November. Teachers and other public employees have already proven their power and are not letting the momentum die down. Anoa also managed to catch State Senator Richard Ojeda, who is now running for Congress in the 3rd District. Senator Ojeda is not one to mince words and focused on making sure all West Virginians know they have the power to stand up and demand better. People powered movements are a beautiful thing!

Recently talked wiht El-Mahdi Holly who is running for State Representative of the Georgia House District 111. El-Mahdi spoke to me about the latest step in the cityhood wave with the proposed city of Eagles Landing. Legislation recently signed by the Goverenor would permit Eagles Landing to deannex from the City of Stockbridge, taking a considerable portion of the tax base. We are also joined by reporter Brentin Mock who has covered some of these issues for a more in depth analysis. https://www.facebook.com/hollyforga/ https://www.citylab.com/equity/2018/04/atlantas-cityhood-movement-might-be-out-of-control/557993/

Life takes a turn but the good content keeps on coming! On this edition of The Way with Anoa, Anoa talks with Josh Mound about his piece "Resolving the Democrats False Choice" in The New Republic. Josh aproaches the current false choice of choosing marginalized communities or reclaiming support amongst "working class white" voters. Josh points out that embracing policies that appeal to working-class people across race, without abandoning racial and social justice is key to turning things around. Read more https://newrepublic.com/article/147467/resolving-democrats-false-choice Next up is Mike Sainato who has done an amazing job of covering progressive candidates running for office across the country. While two races have occurred since this interview, Mike's commentary is still spot on. Check out his pieces at Progressive Army http://progressivearmy.com/author/msainato/
