The Wayback with Ryan Sickler

David Koechner jumps in The Wayback and we head to 70s–80s Tipton, Missouri! Catch him live on, The Never Ending Tour.

David gets nostalgic about growing up in a small town, riding (and sometimes running alongside) the family’s Country Squire, working in the turkey coop business, and life at home in Tipton. A self-described childhood menace, he shares stories of punishments, babysitting his siblings, and the moment that changed everything - watching the very first episode of Saturday Night Live, which set him on his path to comedy.

This is it ya'll! Part 2 of the Baltimore Junkyard Series Finale! It's been a blast during this whole series, to sit back with my brothers and some of my closest friends since childhood, and relive some of the craziest moments of our youth.

We get nostalgic about art class, Christmas caroling, and the time Todd became traumatized for life after walking in on our mom and her boyfriend. And as a finale to the finale, we go deep into the biggest, most brutal brawl of our collective childhoods—the time we threw down with a busload of maniacs at the Preakness!

We got the whole crew together for Part 1 of the Baltimore Junkyard Series Finale!

We were out there in the dark, 100+ heat, rain, lightning, thunder, and we honestly had an absolute blast doing it! It felt just like the old days, laughing our asses off while telling some wild stories from our youth.

We get nostalgic about the epic high school cafeteria food fight, Derek’s Dodge Challenger, Grateful Dead shows, the smoking lounge in high school, and some of the unforgettable teachers we had along the way.

Don’t miss Part 2 next week - the final episode of The Baltimore Junkyard Series!

Chris Lamb, one of my closest friends since childhood, jumps into The Wayback for our next episode of the Baltimore Junkyard Series! Chris and I get nostalgic about our early days growing up together and the tumultuous family situations of our youth. We reminisce about walking to school, train hopping, the joys of the infamous Aspen station wagon, and the time he ate dirt on a rope swing and got grounded for six months. As a witness to some of the Sickler family's greatest hits, Chris also shares his versions of some of our craziest moments, like the bird feeder incident, the fight over Derek's Run DMC/Beastie Boys concert shirt, and the time karma took down my mom with a vengeance.

Chris Sheeler, one of my best friends since sixth grade, joins me in The Wayback for our next episode of the Baltimore Junkyard Series! Chris and I get nostalgic about walking to school as kids, playing football in the cemetery, and bus stop brawls. Shannon Patterson, owner of Baltimore Auto Recycling LLC and one of my best friends since we were kids, jumps in The Wayback as we head back to 1980s  Baltimore!

We get nostalgic about working in his dad’s junkyard, our youth soccer glory days (and the all-out brawls that came with ’em), plus the elementary school teacher who allegedly packed heat. We also relive the magic of Baltimore Blast games and the nonstop chaos of junkyard life — from giant zombie raccoons to yard-car crashes and explosions big enough to rattle the whole block!

My younger brother Todd Sickler slides into The Wayback for another episode of the Baltimore Junkyard Series, as the deep dive into family dysfunction continues!  We get nostalgic about life in Texas, bee attacks, and our other brother Derek chimes in with a story about getting chased by a bull, which was probably just a dog.  We also reminisce about living with a grandma who smoked like a chimney, playing in the woods, and mom's notorious affair with a senior citizen. Then we share stories about our beloved grandma Teetsy — like getting her to watch Sam Kinison's HBO special, and the time she made a mess all over the bathroom wall.

This is part 2 of my twin brother Derek's Baltimore Junkyard Series episode in The Wayback, as we continue the trip back to our dysfunctional shared childhood.  We hear Derek's side of the story of when he went full marine sniper on the neighbor's bird feeder, share stories about catching beatings from mom, and get nostalgic about the relentless teasing we inflicted on the son of Dad's new girlfriend.  We then reminisce about neighborhood brawls, jumping cars, 100 foot jumps into Liberty Reservoir, and the time we wreaked havoc across Baltimore after finding a fire hydrant wrench.
