Her mission is to help women develop and sustain a better relationship with their body and food, restore hormonal balance, lose fat and gain energy. If you're struggling to lose weight and can't understand why then this episode is for you.
Key points covered in today's episode:
Vanessa shares the story of her turbulent relationship with food, including binge eating, orthorexia and other deep food insecurities. She explains how she cracked the code on her own her weight struggle, healed her relationship with food and experienced a significant body transformation.
How in order to have a healthy body transformation it requires not only exercise but looking at your internal health - gut, hormones and mental inparticular
What your metabolism is, how to reset it, why less eating calories causes severe damage and that it it is counterproductive to weight-loss.
The quality of the food you are eating matters however it’s important to still eat the foods that are considered naughty so that you are not restricting yourself as this can affect your mental health. Adopting the 80:20 rule means that 80% of the time you eat healthily and 20% of the time you eat what you like. This creates sustainable, healthy living.
Emotional eating can be a very positive experience if consciousness has been created around the reason why you have chosen to eat the food in front of you and with that knowledge being able to not over indulge and continue in this unhealthy pattern.
The role of hormones in weight gain is huge, they affect our metabolism and can be viewed as a symptom for something underlying that’s going on inside our bodies. The stress hormone cortisol has become a common issue with weight loss struggles and belly bloat. Stress can be physical and mental and build up over time and drastically inhibit weight loss.
Sometimes it’s necessary to step back from physical exercise, slow down and turn inwards to relieve stress with self care practices that calm like meditation, grounding and working through your emotions. We need to honour and listen to ourself.
Vanessa shares her understanding of the main reasons why women struggle to lose weight including chronically under eating which affects our bodies ability to function healthily and due to the social pressures in our society because they are trying to lose weight to fit in and not from a place of love. Being healthy looks different for everyone.
You will be more successful losing weight if you consider it to be a long game, a journey, a process and a change in lifestyle.
It's important to find the type of exercise that not only benefits your body best and compliments your body goals but also to ensure you are enjoying yourself. This will help create sustainable change.
Once we get our mindset right and build a healthy relationship with ourself we are by default going to fell and look healthier and lose any excess weight. End quote by Beyonce Knowles
