  • Petty Pigment Pugilism! With Special Guest Ward Van Haute

Episode 99: Petty Pigment Pugilism! With Special Guest Ward Van Haute

Oh! Hey, Citizen: didn’t see you there! I was just thinking about my good friend The Whiparound Podcast, and all the amazing, funny, and GUEST-POWERED fun they had this week. What’s that? You wanna know some details? Well, alright; let’s just see what I remember!

Oh…FIRST, we welcomed back to the show special guest Ward Van Haute, the director-curator of the Bethlehem House Contemporary Art Gallery. And wouldn’t you know it, good ol’ Ward brought in some fascinating and peculiar ART NEWS! It was all about an ongoing battle in the art community over exclusive pigments! Oh, there was feuding, the blackest-black, the pinkest-pink, angry artists, it was a real hoot.

AND THEN! In Act two, Shaun told us all about a lethal, pernicious, hallucinogenic weed growing in strange abundance in the concrete jungle of New York! And some call it…the Zombie Cucumber! Others call it Jimson weed. They seem to not enjoy fun. ANYWAY! After that, Phil revealed one noteworthy potential sponsor for the stadium housing the Miami Heat. Yeah, now that whatever airline used to do it (they’re all the same, the winged brutes) dropped the naming rights, other companies are moving in. And one of them is the uh, rather honestly-named “Bang Bros” porn company. They want to name the stadium the Bang Bros Center, or BBC for short. It’s…well, the fellas are about as into it as most of you probably are. Blech. But have no fear, for Phil brought a palate-cleansing game! Ya’ll…they played REAL OR BS: Sports Stadium Giveaway Edition! Woo-wooooo!

PLUS, in Three for the Road, all KIND of shenanigans broke out. You know what, why not just listen and give yourself the ear-fun you deserve!

My Podcast has a first name, it’s W-H-I-P! My Podcast has even more first name, it’s A-R-O-U-N-D! Whatever; it’s THE WHIPAROUND!

  • For Whom the Cockerel Crows
Episode 97: For Whom the Cockerel Crows
Salutations, Citizen! Welcome to another edition of the Whiparound, and a merry week of bizarre news it’s been, hey? Let’s get started! This week, we’ve got a bit of SYNERGY! And it was totally unplanned, to boot. NATURAL SYNERGY! See, Jill came in with an unsettling little tale imported from France. Some neighbors are having a dispute that took them all the way to court and it’s all about…a rooster. Yes, it’s Country Mouse vs. City Mouse, 2019 edition, and with a metaphorical axe to a cockerel’s throat, you’ll want to find out which is more sacred: a woman and her cock, or a man and his sleep. Close call. Close call.
     BUT FIRST!
In a new installation of everyone’s favorite audio shudder-fest, Shaun’s Cabinet of the Macabre is here with a CURRENT MACABRE EVENT! There’s been a strange murder on a small Australian farm. Bloody footprints trace a harrowing end in an Aussie backyard. An elderly woman lay dead in a pool of blood, right in her own driveway, gone before a promptly called ambulance could arrive. But who’s to blame? The answer is a bloody bizarre one!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, hear tell of a helluva spicy drug bust, new findings about the Loch Ness “Monster,” a cautionary tale about driving a HORSE while drunk, and more, more, always MORE!
I’m a little podcast, hear my tale, here are my segments, here’s my email. I’ll report the news if weird it sounds. Yep!, It’s me THE WHIP-A-ROUND!

  • Arc It Like Gagarin
Episode 96: Arc It Like Gagarin
It’s one small step for news and one GIANT LEAP for the weird this week, as Jill joins Shaun for more of that strange, weekly goodness you’ve come to crave! This time, Shaun jets us over to Mother Russia: it seems a breakthrough in state-of-the-art spacesuits is putting a real cramp in a Soviet launch-day ritual dating back to Gagarin’s first trip among the stars! It, uh…it has to do with a relocated zipper. And yeah. It’s almost certainly what you’re thinking.
BUT FIRST! Jill doubles down on the segments in Act 1, bringing us a Here’s the Thing all about men behaving badly while inebriated (and she’s got advice, dudes!) AND a first for the Whiparound: a LIVE, IMPROVISED Movie in a Minute! Find out which film Shaun challenges Jill to rapidly sum up and judge for yourself how the reigning Queen of Bizarre News fared!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, learn a bit about South Korean daytime discos for the elderly set, an ENORMOUS brain worm in China, cruel, cruel public restroom defense systems, and MORE!
Off we go, into the weird and bizarre yonder…with THE WHIPAROUND!

  • Now That’s What I Call CRASStration!(tm)
    Episode 95: Now That’s What I Call CRASStration!(tm)
It’s a wild week of cuts, chops, and some of the weirdest news stories to cross the Whiparound desk in weeks! Months, even! Dare we say YEARS? Hear for yourself: Shaun has a lead on one California resident making major progress in their quest to abandon humanity altogether to become a genderless…snake…dragon…thing! And that whole “genderless” thing? Yeah. They take it about as far as one can go. In an eerie coincidence, Phil’s main story this week ALSO revolves around the strangely happy loss of bits and pieces: witness the strange and rather gag-inducing tale of a man arrested for amateur castration surgery ON A WILLING VOLUNTEER? Oof. Excuse us for a second. Everything suddenly hurts…
BUT FIRST! Shaun’s Cabinet of the Macabre is back in full force this week, with a bit of a changeup from what you’re used to; this time, it’s all about SPORTS! Listen in, lovers of the darkness, as Shaun uses Andrew Luck’s early retirement from the NFL as an excuse to announce, in vivid detail, his top three football moments of all time! Here’s a bit of a hint: they’re ALL ghastly, ghastly injuries. So we’re still on brand! Woo!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, we’ve got smugglers caught with illicit sand, a record setting felony-spree out of Ohio, exhibitionists foiled by gravity, and MORE!
It’s THE WHIPAROUND: don’t delay, enjoy TODAY!

  • The Flight of the Steam-Powered Douche-Rocket
Episode 94: The Flight of the Steam-Powered Douche-Rocket
Saddle up, Citizens and assorted buckaroos, it’s time for a rip-roaring, weird-as-all-heck time with your best pards here at the Whiparound! This week, Phil’s got the lead on a newly-crowned world champion (from the USA, no less!) in a, uh. Well. A…um. Welp, let’s call it a “sport” for lack of a better word. Whatever it is, it’s got itself a champion, and Shaun can barely stand his excitement. Yeah. Let’s go with “excitement.” After Phil’s story, we’ve also got a brand-new game! This one comes to you courtesy of Shaun’s Cabinet of the Macabre: it’s a ghoul-inspired trivia blast based on a very special (read: evil) Macabreversary! Come and play!
BUT FIRST! It’s SCIENCE time, and the good doctor recently discovered a flat-earther that he can actually kind of stand! Sorta! And THIS guy? This guy takes the “rocket” OUT of “rocket science!” Find out why this bozo is Phil’s FAVORITE flat-earther!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, we’ve got deadly cow kicks, Florida Man debuting in Dungeons and Dragons, a nearly-fatal karaoke session, and plenty MORE!
Let’s rope some sunsets and ride off into the broncos, ya’ll! Ya-hoo! It’s the WHIPAROUND!

  • All Dog Peens Go to Censorship Heaven
Episode 93: All Dog Peens Go to Censorship Heaven

It’s a beautiful day in the weird news neighborhood, folks, so come with Jill and Shaun as they throw on some cozy sweaters and swap on some slippers to bring YOU the best and bizarre-est recent headlines! Shaun leads off with a mysterious story about a disappearing woman, some “lost” cash, and a teensy bit of meth. Find out how one unfortunate corrections officer ended up hitting a disgusting jackpot at the worst of times as we unravel this thing. THEN, Jill dredges up a “bittersweet” story straight out of a Brazilian jail. Just try to guess how the story of a man who dressed up as his visiting daughter to attempt an escape ends. We dare ya. Hold onto your hats once Jill reveals this particular conclusion, ya’ll. And don’t say you weren’t warned!
BUT FIRST! In this latest edition of Here’s the Thing, Jill laments a crushing bit of thought control: the PC culture has claimed another victim, and this time, it’s uncensored dog peepees on Instagram. And Jill is NOT. HAVING IT! Hear why, if you dare!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, we’ve got bear-centric car fires, fun rides in church, toothless ladies biting for justice in Florida, and PLENTY MORE!

  • The Rise of the Televange-Mages!
Episode 92: The Rise of the Televange-Mages!
Alright, alright, alright, Citizens, it’s time for more weird news! And in a truncated show this week, Shaun has that angle covered with a tale pitting a sad Siberian sap bilked of his hard-earned Rubles by none other than…Russian Mages! Or, you know, total frauds. All depends on your perspective…and how gullible you are. But THIS guy didn’t take his magical fleecing laying down; he got the LAW involved! Hear what happened…right this way!
BUT FIRST! Shaun’s Cabinet of the Macabre is BACK, and yet another Macabreversary is at hand: the seven-hundred-fourteenth anniversary of Scottish rebel Sir William Wallace’s capture leads Shaun to reflect on the man’s execution. And it turns out that truth is FAR gorier than anything Hollywood was willing or able to show. Take part in a retelling of Shaun’s SECOND-FAVORITE Brutal British Execution™ of all time!
PLUS, in Three for the Road, we’ve got invasive charitable toilets, telemarketer-foiling bots, a lady “misting” the potatoes at her local Walmart, and MORE!

  • Ploonet 9 From Outer Space!
Episode 91: Ploonet 9 From Outer Space!
Another exciting and full-blown bizarre week of news is packed up and ready for immediate consumption, Citizen! Phil is back from Canada, just in time to share a twisted story of one organ donation center that turned into a haven for some of the most ghoulish activity we’ve EVER covered…and that is saying something! Also, Shaun has the lead on the latest development in automated fiery death from above, while Jill covers a love story gone wrong in yet another in that long line of bomb-threat-based romances that doesn’t quite pan out.
AND! We have ourselves a new game!
BUT FIRST! Phil brought a special SCIENCE story to kick things off. What’s got the doc’s attention this time, you ask? A patently RIDICULOUS new term for escaped moons that has his blood pressure rising to dizzying heights: give a listen to find out if our kindest host blows a gasket right on the air!
PLUS! In Three for the Road, we’ve got a woman running around with stolen dentures in her head, a van packed with drugs conveniently crashing directly into some police cars, an update on our favorite tawdry story of ghostly romance, and MORE!

  • It’s UNKO Time!
    Episode 90: It’s UNKO Time!
Konnichiwa, Citizens! Your pals at the Whiparound are joined by a GUEST this week: returning pal of the show and director of the Bethlehem House Art Gallery, Ward Van Haute! And this time around, Ward brought plenty of fun and culture to the table, believe it! Shaun and Jill worked hard to keep up with our three-peat guest’s enthusiasm. Jill leapt to the forefront with a very, well, a very JILL story about Area 51, “aliens,” and a possible techno party in the desert, while Shaun reached into our past to update us on some amazing heavy metal knitting news out of Finland: we’ve got a champion to announce, ya’ll!
    BUT FIRST!
Thanks to Mr. Van Haute’s natural comedy instincts and solid work ethic, the man brought us a NEW SEGMENT! Brace yourselves for some class, punks, ‘cuz it’s time for some em-effin’ ART NEWS! And this inaugural edition takes us to Japan for a (hopefully) one of a kind museum experience that everyone can relate to. Even if you might not really want to!
    AND!
We’ve got a NEW GAME! It’s a fresh take on a classic when Shaun unveils a showstopping edition of the Build-A Workshop series. Jill and Ward knock this one way out of the park; DON’T miss it!
    PLUS!
In Three for the Road, we’ve got a cursed amusement park up for sale, creepy, creepy kitties in a movie trailer, crooks with bad gas and terrible timing, and MORE!
