In this episode of TheEdTalks, which is a little longer than usual, I begin a little series on superfoods. The importance of superfoods becomes apparent when you realise that most of us are dealing with so many stressors in our modern day lives such as environmental toxins, relationship stress, work stress, mental stress; all using up vital nutrients in our body. Being able to top up every now and then with foods that stand out because of their nutrient density, healing properties and energizing effects seems like a good thing to me.
A food that truly deserves the title of superfood is the cyanobacterium, often referred to as a blue green micro algae, called spirulina. This may well be the most nutrient dense food on the planet, coupled with an amazing array of scientifically observed health benefits that assist you to ward off disease, feel healthier and live a longer and more energized life. But, be warned that you need to be very cautious and do your research before choosing your supplier to reduce possible contaminants which I go into detail in the podcast.
